FOX GLACIER – ART CHAT #18
CLICK ON ONE OF THE PHOTO’S ABOVE AND ARROW THROUGH ALL THREE TO SEE AT FULL SIZE.

All three sketches on one page of the sketchbook
The above sketches are those that I managed to get done at Fox Glacier during our New Zealand trip. I was struggling to fit sketching time in at night and lighting was poor, but I was still determined to stick to my plan. I chose subjects that really meant something to me, moments of time that had an impression on me, or little snapshots of things I just wanted to remember. They’re a bit rough and rushed and haven’t photographed well. I’ve had to lighten them which is why the written bits look a bit washed out.
You can read the story about Mocha the cat and see the photograph (which is much, much more impressive) of the view of Fox Glacier from the carpark at Lake Matheson in THIS POST. Those who know me would know why I had to capture that road sign! If you want to know where we stayed and what we got up to at Fox Glacier, it’s all at the link above, or HERE.
Till next time!
Ciao for now,

I like the sign sketch 🙂 I think there’s something that softens an item we see often but don’t notice, or seeing it in a different medium makes us notice it more.
Thank you Vanessa!
Hi Min – your art has come along in leaps and bounds since you rediscovered your love for drawing and for watercolours. I’ve so enjoyed seeing your creations when you’ve shared them here and on Facebook.
Hi Leanne, thanks so much. It means a lot to know that what I share is enjoyed. I share the ones that I feel are not so great too (like these) as it shows the ebbs and flows with our art dependent on mood and time etc! xo
love your artwork! and I love NZ!
Thanks so much Sherry! xo
my comment disappeared? just saying I love your artwork and NZ!
It came through – it’s just the ‘cache’ settings on my blog seem to make comments very slow to appear!
Always enjoy your posts with your sketches, Min. They show how talented you are. #wwanpics
Thanks so much Sue. You’re very kind! Hope you’re feeling much better now? xo
It’s so good that you have remained committed to capturing life YOUR way, Min….words, art and photos. Sending you my great admiration for your skills.
Thank you for linking up this week for WWandPics on Denyse Whelan Blogs to Connect. Next week, I hope you join in again too, and be there to read my “C” for change & connection post! Warm wishes, Denyse.
Thank you so much Denyse! Hopefully I’ll be linking up with you next week. xo
How clever are you Min, I love your sketches, no matter how rough you think they are!
Thanks so much Debbie. That’s so kind of you to say! xo
I am trying very hard to convince my PC to consider taking a cruise to Alaska. Today, while ironing, I watched YouTube videos about cruises and the scenery is just incredible. I love snow, and the views of the glaciers from the cruise ship decks is breathtaking. Really enjoyed your photo and painting of the glacier in New Zealand. We have a lovely mountain range in El Paso that is even prettier when it is snow tipped. But nothing like these glaciers.
Hi Leslie, Alaska would be an A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. cruise to go on. My friend and fellow aussie blogger (Jo Castro) recently went on a cruise to Alaska. If you haven’t seen her post here it is here: https://lifestylefifty.com/princess-cruises-alaska-review/
It’s well worth a look! I love snow and the cold too. It’s a novelty to us because we live in tropical Queensland where we barely see seasons except summer. Our winters are mild. Our Autumns and Springs are blink and you miss it. xo
