ART CHAT #21

DAY 9 – QUEENSTOWN (NEW ZEALAND)

21 May 2023

Today started with a lovely relaxed morning with no rush to get anywhere in a hurry. After breakfast & morning coffee we went on a cruise of Lake Wakatipu and then had some delicious dumplings for lunch. After lunch we went for a walk around the Queenstown Gardens and explored Artbay Gallery where I fell in love with collages done by Thai artist ‘Virut Penchabuse’. The sketch/painting that you see of the lady in a scarf with writing over her is my depiction of one of my favourite collages of his.  You can read all the details about this day and see the ‘actual’ Penchabuse collage (scroll down to Day 9) in this post >> NZ Trip – Queenstown & Arrowtown.  Meanwhile, here are the sketches I did for Day 9 (21 May 2023).

As mentioned in my Taking Stock post last week, I’m taking a small break in order to free up some more time for me to get some art done. I should be back with my next post on 1 November.  I’ll be taking a longer break over the Christmas/New Year break. I’ll be reading and commenting on posts from Denyse’s link up today as soon as I can (I’m over at Mum’s at the time this publishes) but after that I’ll be absent from the blogosphere until 1 November.

Ciao for now,

Wow your collage is so good Min, I went back and checked the original and I think yours is terrific!! I love all your sketches and wish I had a thimble of your talent.
I do hope your break goes well and look forward to seeing you back later in the year. Take care!

Thank you Deb. I like my depiction of the collage and it’s not often I say that! I’m looking forward to the break. Sometimes we just need to open up a bigger window of time for ourselves so that we can do what we want to do! I’ll be back before long though. xo

I love the drawing of the lady in a scarf with writing over her – so detailed and as always I’m impressed with your art. Take care and enjoy your break. I’ve taken a step back from some activities and I think we need to do that every now and then. xx

Thank you Sue. I like that drawing too and as I said to Debbie – I don’t often say that! I was pleased with it. I agree that we need to step back from things now and then and open up space where needed. xo

I hope that through the comments left here, you can get a small sense of how your art touches the hearts of others. And is so inspiring to those of us who toy with creating, painting, drawing, too. Thank you for being such an encouraging force.

The drawings are incredible! I visited Queenstown in 2008 and was blown away by its beauty.
