I am blogging on a Monday! I know! It’s been a while since I’ve done that. So why today? Well, because I wanted to show my support for my blogging friend Denyse of Denyse Whelan Blogs. Denyse recently had major surgery for mouth cancer. She has been incredibly courageous and maintained a positive mindset throughout and I am so incredibly impressed and inspired by her. She is home from hospital recovering now and has started back blogging sooner than I expected and I’m sure sooner than she expected also! On Monday’s she has a “Life This Week” link up. It starts back today! There are prompts for blogging subjects each week. They are optional but I’m going with the prompt for this week. This week’s prompt is: ‘Can’t Live Without’
I can’t live without my Ava
Ava is my dog. She’s a ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who will turn 5 years of age in September this year. We decided to get her as a family Christmas gift back in 2012. Here’s why:
On 21 August 2011, our Black and Tan Cavalier King Charles Spaniel boy ‘Colby’ passed away. He and our Tri-colour Cavalier King Charles Spaniel girl ‘Chelsea‘ had grown up together. Chelsea was depressed after his passing. It was very worrying. She just lay about sleeping and there was no joy about her anymore. Once Ava joined our family Chelsea came back to life and in fact was springing around like a puppy again! We did the right thing. She was happy again! Aside from making Chelsea happy again, Ava brought joy to us all. She is gorgeous and her temperament is just so loveable. In May 2016, at the age of 16, we lost Chelsea and now there is just Ava.
Ava is my constant companion. She’s with me for the most part of every day. I talk away to her through my days. She is wonderful company. The things we discuss!! She is the most loyal friend I have – always listening and always loving me no matter what. She has been by my side every moment throughout my recovery from recent surgery. She loves going for walks with me and gets very excited whenever she gets to go in the car with me. I can’t believe she is nearly 5 already. I really couldn’t imagine life without her.
Here are some recent phone snaps of Ava shared on Instagram (including one boomerang clip that shows why I usually lock her inside when I hose the garden):
Ciao for now

She’s gorgeous!! Guess I’m a bit biased though. LOL Yes – she’s loads of fun and wonderful to cuddle. 🙂
Ava is gorgeous and I love her eyes. She obviously is a wonderful part of the family. I also love your tribute to Denyse at the beginning of your post, Min. She certainly has been though a lot but is a real trooper. Have a great week!
Thanks Sue – it’s amazing how much a dog can come to mean to you. She is a much loved member of the family – as were all our previous dogs. As for Denyse – I don’t know that I could be as strong as her. She has been amazing and I wanted to support her very much. Hope you have a great week too! 🙂
Awwww, Ava you are such a sweetie.

Ava says: Woof, Woof, Woof, Woof, Woof … which translates to Thank You SSG!! 🙂 xo
She’s gorgeous Min – such a pretty colour. We had a golden cockerspaniel when I was growing up and she reminds me a bit of her. We haven’t replaced our dog who died 2 years ago because I just don’t have the time to invest in the love a dog needs – but you’ve reminded me why we love them so much.
Thanks Leanne. Yes I know what you mean. There was a lot of uncertainty about getting another dog when we got Ava. They are work, cost money, need to be cared for when you go away, etc etc but no regrets. She gave Chelsea more years of life than she otherwise would have had and she’s given me the company I’ve needed and she’s a joy to all of us really. 🙂
You are a very special and kind blogging friend dear Min…thank you, I am humbled..
Thank you so much for linking up for #lifethisweek 28/52. As it is my first week back since major surgery and I am very much in recuperative mode, I am leaving this general comment on your blog this week. Many thanks for your support of my blog and my recovery, Denyse x
Next Week’s Prompt: Winter.
Thank you Denyse. It was my pleasure. I am humbled by you and your courage and positivity! I will try and link up again next week. Winter is a favourite thing for me. I can say that living in Brisbane! 🙂 xo
