Ever notice that the month of February is always represented with a love heart or love hearts? Not sure what I’m talking about? Go to Google, type February and hit search. Then click on the images tab. See all the love hearts? Is that all February is about – Valentines Day? Valentines Day is one day in the month! I feel sorry for all the other days that might like to be known for something else! In fact, I did a little digging and here are just some of the other things that will be happening in February.
February 2017
1-28 HeartKids National Awareness Month
12-18 Duchenne Awareness Month
16 Chinese New Year [2018] (Year of the Rooster)
18 International Asperger’s Day
20 World Day of Social Justice
28 Last Day of Summer (Australia)
28 Pancake Day
That’s quite a few things happening this month besides Valentines Day and there are more! On a personal note, I would have to add my youngest sister’s birthday on the 26th.
I have to say that on reflection and after looking at all these special days, awareness months and occasions I think perhaps the Lβ₯ve Heart IS a good representation for the month. All the days above are about love, compassion, kindness and caring for people and the environment.
Love, compassion and kindness are the anchors of life.
So let’s look at today – 14 February
It is Library Lovers Day – Libraries from across Australia sharing the #librarylove.
It is Sweetheart Day – a day that is held annually on February 14th to raise funds towards fighting childhood heart disease. All proceeds go towards HeartKids, a national organisation that focuses on funding vital medical research as well as improving the lives of Aussie kids with childhood heart disease. Did you know that 8 babies a day (A DAY!) are born with a heart defect in Australia? Why not share the lβ₯ve today and check out what you can do to help out.
And of course it’s Valentines Day. St Valentine’s Day is an annual festival to celebrate romantic love, friendship and admiration. Every year on 14 February people celebrate this day by sending messages of love and affection to partners, family and friends. Mostly though, it is known to be a day to celebrate love and romance.
Valentines Day is a lovely thought – a chance to make your special person feel special, loved and appreciated – but I think we need to be careful to not leave all of that JUST to this one day each year. It should be a priority and should happen on a regular basis – in order to have a strong and healthy relationship.
Happy Valentines Day to YOU! I hope your special person makes you feel loved and appreciated and if you don’t have a special person right now then I hope you love yourself sick today or give some loving to a good friend and make them feel special!
Ciao for now,

Happy V day! Happy February. Happy hearts …
Happy V Day, Happy February and Happy hearts to you too Leanne! π
All those special days, but they left out another one too! In our house Feb 28 is celebrated as my twins’ birthday. Although they were born on Leap Day we celebrate it on the last day of Feb, whatever date that might be!

Ahhh you have twins like me! Mine were 24 in November. Fancy yours being born in a leap year. I think I would do the same as you with regards to what day to celebrate each year! π
I agree, the heart is a good representation of all of those days. I knew about Harmony Day, but not the others. I’d like to add my sister’s and my niece’s birthdays to the list π
Glad you agree Renee! I wasn’t aware of all the others either until I did a little research. Your sister and nieces birthdays noted and will be added! π x
Wow who would have known there were so many lovey dovey type days in one month.
You can never have enough LOVE. What a fab month! π
Love that it is also library lovers day- that is me!!! Father in law has a valentine birthday, my daughter celebrates her birthday on the 19th and then me on the 23rd so February is all about celebrating birthdays xx
I didn’t even know there was a library lovers day until I did my research. Love the idea though! Busy month for you Deb! Father-in law’s birthday, your daughter’s birthday, your birthday AND the launch of your newest rings which are incredible! π xo

Oh LOL I’ve never heard of Library Lovers Day. How awesome!
I had never heard of it either! π
It’s also our anniversary on the 10th and we celebrated 10 years this year! And let’s not forget Galentine’s Day on the 13th, a day to celebrate your gorgeous girlfriends, how wonderful is that! I agree with you, every day is a good day to feel the love, share the love and be in love!
10th Anniversary on the 10th – that’s a one off! Happy Anniversary! Galentine’s Day on the 13th – I had never heard of that but I Googled and can see that the concept was first coined on the US sitcom,’Parks and Recreation’, in 2010 and it’s taken off since then. Great idea haha! It’ll be more popular than V Day before long! Definitely a month of LOVE all ’round. π x
Love this post, Min, it’s nice to hear about all of the other things that happen on Valentine’s Day. And I am spewing I totally didn’t know it was Library Lover’s Day! What a perfect excuse to go to the library. Definitely going to mark that in my diary for next year!
