I plan to spend my days walking through the rainforest, exploring the mountains, shops and cafes, taking heaps of photographs, hopefully coming across some wildlife, and sitting on the verandah taking in the serenity. Nights will be spent sitting by the fireplace crocheting or reading or writing or watching TV or a combination of some or all.
Speaking of my crochet – it’s really coming along! If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen some snaps of the ‘daisy’ squares I’ve been doing. My first crochet project in something like 25 years! Well I’ve decided to mix it up and add in four (4) other types of squares to make things more interesting (and stop me getting bored). All up I need 88 squares. I’ve done 44 daisy squares and the plan is to do 11 of each of the four other squares which will make another 44 and voila – there’s my 88. Here’s a pic I snapped with my phone of some of my daisy squares laid out with the four ring ins! The blanket will be 8 squares across and 11 squares down, so the pattern will repeat. Not a great photo but if gives the general idea. Note that the darkest colour is actually a dark turquoise.
While I’m away it is most likely that I will not have any internet access, so I will probably drop off the social media radar for a while! I’m sure you will all survive my absence! 🙂 Of course, there will be a blog post or two to share my experience and photographs when I return.
Meanwhile, exciting news! Because we had some warmer days here in Brisbane last week, I got to wear my new Birdsnest – Belle Botanical Wrap Dress by Belle Bird to lunch and the movies with a girlfriend for the very first time and gee it felt lovely on. But wait, there’s more!! I also wore, for the very first time, my new Frankie4 Izzy Tan boots (courtesy of birthday money from family). I love them! They are super comfortable and yet stylish – win/win!! I took some silly selfie snaps of myself to share here in this post today in order to keep with Denyse’s ‘selfie time‘ theme for this week’s ‘Life This Week’ linkup.

Clockwise from top left: We may have browzed Typo and I came home with a sparkly new M and a magical new coffee mug; Silly selfie in new wrap dress; Gorgeous new Frankie4 boots; Home again, boots off and into the crochet; Silly selfies in gorgeous new dress & a glimpse of the new boots to boot (haha)!
Looks fab doesn’t it? Do yourself a favour and go see it with a girlfriend. I highly recommend it – makes a nice change from horror and gore and action and sci-fi and so forth.
I’ll see you on the flip side of my mountain getaway! I will be absent from the #LovinLife linkup this week and the blog the rest of the week, due to the fact that I most likely won’t have any internet access up in them hills (haha) and I’m well overdue for a digital detox anyway. Have a great week!
Ciao for now,

I can’t wait to hear about your trip! Enjoy the pretty!
Thank you – there’s going to be SO MUCH pretty up there! 🙂
Oh wow, hope you have a fabulous time! That sounds like a relaxing getaway!
Thank you! It’s my kind of getaway that’s for sure! 🙂
Hi Min! Your getaway sounds divine and probably just what you need after your recent surgery. I’m loving your crochet and you have inspired me to start again. I’ve never done squares but always wanted to make an ‘heirloom’ blanket. Your daisies are so cute. Thanks for the heads up on the movie which I haven’t heard of but definitely up my street. Have a fabulous time, relax and enjoy!
Thanks Sue – yes it will be perfect after the recent surgery and also just to get away. I haven’t been anywhere since the cruise in December last year. I love the mountains – haven’t been to these ones though so looking forward to exploring up there. I am loving the crochet. Can’t believe I waited so long to start it up again! Hope you go and see the movie and enjoy it! 🙂
HI Min
Enjoy your getaway! The new film with Joan and Pauline in it looks amazing. I was reading an interview Joan gave to promote the film. I really admire her take on life.
SSG xxx
Thanks SSG! I’ve seen some interviews with Joan too – she’s quite an inspiring woman! 🙂 xo
Have a fantastic time in the Bunya Mountains! Sounds like my idea of a relaxing holiday. Also, that dress looks fab on you! It’s beautiful, now I want one as well. I’ll have to check out Time of their Lives. I haven’t been to the movies in such a long time. I think the last thing that I saw was The BFG.
Thanks Katherine! The mountains is my happy place – I would like to live in the mountains – just not certain which ones. Really looking forward to exploring the Bunya Mountains. Thank you so much for the lovely compliment on the dress! First new dress in a long time and I couldn’t be happier with it. BTW – I saw BFG on the cruise we went on in December 2016! 🙂
Your getaway sounds fantastic. Looking forward to photos!!! When you are ready to join up your squares give me a shout- would love to catch up and bring along my bag of squares waiting to join up… Would be major motivation and we can chat while crocheting. Xxx
Cannot wait to get up that mountain and in that nature and exploring and taking photographs! 🙂 I would love to catch up with you Deb! We can chat and crochet away like happy nanna pigs in mud! lol Won’t take me long to finish my squares and be ready to join up. I’ll get in touch with you when I’m at that point. Look forward to it. It’s been ages! xo
Your trip sounds divine – all that relaxing and strolling and shopping – bliss! BTW I love that dress on you and I am most impressed with your crocheting – I finally finished knitting my throw rug last week and it has pride of place on the end of one of our spare beds. Not sure what project I’ll tackle next….
Thanks Leanne! I’m back home now. I loved the Bunya Mountains! Loved the cottage where we stayed, the rainforest walks, the nature, and all the wildlife. Not much shopping but that was just fine. Thanks so much for the compliment on the dress. I’m really happy with it! I’m glad you like my crochet. It’s the first bit of crochet I’ve done in around 25 years! Can’t believe I waited that long to pick up the crochet hook again. I’m loving it! Your throw rug sounds lovely. Is there a photo of it I can see?
Sounds lovely, enjoy!! I am so overdue for some time away.
It was wonderful! Wish I’d had longer up there. Next time! Hope you get some time away real soon – it does wonders for the soul! 🙂
That trip looks superb. I am glad you are taking a time out for you too! Thanks for the fun of joining in with the selfies too. The movie looks like it would be great. I hope your stay is as enjoyable as you hoped. Thank you for linking up for #lifethisweek 32/52. Next week: Mindfulness.
The trip was wonderful Denyse – just wish I’d had longer there. Next time! 🙂 xo
I’m so jealous that you’ll be unplugged for awhile!!

Turns out I wasn’t unplugged as I had thought I would be Jodie. There was no wifi but my phone had data coverage – though it was patchy and dropped in and out. I posted a few photos and videos but otherwise was as unplugged as I could be. 🙂 xo
