crystals

Crystals and gemstones have always been admired for their colours and beauty. For thousands of years they have adorned the crowns of the wealthy and were a symbol of power. Many ancient cultures used crystals for healing and today we have access to a vast array of tumbled stones and jewellery that you can easily use for increasing your health and happiness.

Crystals have a lot to offer as tools for raising your vibration and healing on all levels. They work gently with your energy. Every crystal offers its own set of healing abilities. The hardest part is deciding where to start with so many beautiful choices available. Here are 5 of my favourites that are easily attainable and very affordable to purchase as tumbled stones.

CITRINE โ€“ easily recognisable with its gorgeous golden tones, citrine is the stone of abundance and self-confidence. It is an excellent choice for revitalising the mind, boosting self-esteem and dissolving destructive tendencies. It can be helpful in dealing with menstrual problems and menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes. Citrine is excellent for overcoming fears and phobias and will aid in balancing emotions. It can be helpful in detoxifying the blood and easing kidney and bladder infections. Place a citrine in the South West corner of your home to help attract and hold on to financial abundance.

BLUE LACE AGATE – beautiful pale blue shade and delicate striping make this stone easy to spot. It is a fabulous crystal that brings cooling and calming properties to your energy. Very helpful is allowing you to freely express your thoughts and feelings. This stone offers nurturing qualities and will aid in neutralizing anger, infections, painful inflammations and fever. It can be very helpful for neck and shoulder stress, thyroid deficiencies and throat infections. If you struggle with feelings of being judged or rejected by others, this is the stone that will help guide you to more positive feelings.

CARNELIAN โ€“ can be found in a variety of shades from orange through to red and brown. This crystal is all about grounding and protection. Try this powerful tool for increasing courage, promoting positive life choices and motivating you to success. It is a useful choice to help overcoming abuse in the past and helps you rebuild trust in yourself and others. Invite this stone to help you deal with envy, rage and resentment and help replace these emotions with love and calm. Issues with the lower part of your body such as reproductive organs and lower back pain will benefit from a soothing carnelian. Place a stone inside your front door to ward of intrusion from the outside world.

AMETHYST โ€“ can vary from the palest lavender through to deep purple. This crystal is an extremely valuable tool for bringing balance to all aspects of your life. Amethyst will help you find your calm centre during lifeโ€™s highs and lows. It can help you make the right decisions, enhance memory, alleviate sadness, grief and the pain of loss. It can be very helpful in balancing hormone production, boosting metabolism and the immune system. It is the stone to grab to guide you through physical, psychological or emotional pain and is the perfect choice to ease headaches and built up stress. Bruising, swelling, skin irritations, insomnia and restlessness can be calmed with amazing amethyst. Place one under your pillow if you often have nightmares and simply cannot fall asleep.

ROSE QUARTZ – this pretty pink crystal is the stone of love and peace. It brings calm, reassurance and support in times of trauma, crisis or self-doubt. It will encourage you to restore trust, faith and harmony in everyday life, no matter what you are facing. This stone will help energise your powerful heart centre, that is so often closed and blocked from dealing with stress and negative past memories. It is beneficial to the functioning of your heart, lungs, kidneys, adrenal glands injuries that give off heat. This special crystal deserves a spot on your bedside table.

Once you have purchased your crystals and before you start using them, it is vital that you cleanse them to remove any energy they have encountered on the way to your possession. The easiest way to do this is simply hold them under some running water for a few minutes and then let them recharge in the sun for an hour or so. Like any good tools regular cleaning will help them work at their best.

To use them simply place in your handbag, pop them in your pocket or even tuck them in your bra. Buying them in ready-made jewellery form is another easy option. You can hold them gently in your hands whilst meditating or even just sitting with them quietly and taking some nice deep breaths will do the trick. Just make sure you donโ€™t let them sit in a bowl and gather dust, the more you use them the more benefit you will receive.

Thank you Nikki for filling us in on the benefits of those five crystals and how to use them!

Being a skeptic, I’m not one to believe that they hold powers but I do admire their beauty. I have lots of crystal jewelry and amber too- so gorgeous!

      That’s a bit where I sit too!

I’m yet to be convinced but I do have an open mind! ๐Ÿ™‚

They are gorgeous to look at aren’t they! I’m pretty open-minded when it comes to these things. I want to believe! I’ve loved reading Nikki’s post because I need to understand how crystals are meant to be used. If I get a few and follow the guidelines, then I can decide if they have the powers they claim to ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m not one who uses these and puts trust in them but I know of a few families who keep them in their children’s rooms to aid in happy dreaming.. hey what ever works.

I have a few little crystals but they just sit and look pretty. I’m interested in learning more about how they’re supposed to be used. I like to keep an open mind! ๐Ÿ™‚

great post Nikki. I love crystals and learning more about them all the time. I use them in my designs to connect the message to the energy and the reminder. Some of my favourites here (amethyst is my birthstone as well). Rose Quartz especially is a key stone I recommend.

Sounds like you know a lot more about crystals than me Deb. I love how they look. I just need to understand how they’re to be used and what they can be used for better. I love amethyst! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m not sure about the healing properties in the stones but their beauty is obvious. I really like Amber. Its a beautiful colour so rich and yet having both a cooling and warming feeling. The black agate I like for its darkness. I have a collection of crystals and stones that I bought from a geological museum in Perth many years ago. A really interesting guest post.

I’m not sure of their healing properties either Patrick but I am very open minded and want to believe. I visited Crystal Castle at Mullumbimby (near Byron Bay) a while back and bought a few little crystals. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love crystals though I don’t use them for their purposes (not through lack of belief, rather through lack of slowing down enough to use them properly).

Much the same for me Haidee! I have a few and always intended on reading up on them and understanding their purpose and how to use them … but life has a habit of getting busy! ๐Ÿ™‚

I keep an open mind too about these things too but I think the stones are meant to give confidence, a belief, something to hold onto if you want your situation to change xx

I really like your description Lisa! ๐Ÿ™‚

My favorite crystal is the carnelian, it’s bright orange makes me feel happier whenever I hold it. I do believe crystals have energy, just like everything else in this world. Those energies have frequencies, either good or bad. I truly believe this because it’s what I feel.

I had never heard of the carnelian crystal Mary. I’ll have to Google it! ๐Ÿ™‚
