Annie, Anandi

Meet my cousin Annie!  Annie lives in Sydney.  Our Mum’s are sisters.  Annie makes gorgeous original jewellery pieces with crystals, rudrashka beads, silver, 14K rolled gold, and brass.  She is also an Intuitive Energy worker, Crystal Therapist, and Meditation Teacher.  I am fascinated by all that she does so thought I’d ask her some questions to learn more, and why not do that here on the blog so I can share with you!

Details on how you can follow Annie on Facebook and Instagram and see her gorgeous jewellery are towards the end of this post.  Meanwhile, let’s chat to her and learn more about her and all that she does.

Thanks for agreeing to be interviewed on my blog Annie!  I’ll start off with a question about your name.  I see that you have adopted the name Anandi, using the name ‘Love Anandi’ for your business and often hyphenating it with your own name so you’re Anandi-Annie.  Can you tell us what Anandi means and why you have taken that name?

Hi Min, thanks for asking me to share, and be part of your blog!  I was fortunate to have studied under a Monk (Pandit) from the Himalayas’, and Anandi was the name that he blessed me with.  The meaning resonated very strongly, and I loved it so much that I incorporated it to my business name – Love Anandi.  The meaning is Happiness, Joy, and Unending.

What came first for you – making your jewellery or the intuitive energy work, crystal therapy or meditation teaching?  How did all of these things evolve for you?

I have been meditating for over 26 years.  I started doing Yoga in my early 20’s and I always found meditation to be the reward at the end of a yoga class.  I love Yoga as it speaks to my soul, but I’m passionate about meditation as I know it can make huge changes to a persons life, no matter what they have going on.  I started teaching meditation classes a couple of years ago, incorporating different styles and techniques that I have learnt to assist everyone to a deeper level of awareness, whether they have been meditating for years or are beginners.  I have always been very intuitive, and again decided that it was time to share my gifts and knowledge to help people.

Crystals have been part of my life since I was a teenager, around 35 years. My youngest brother gifted me my first Tarot cards and spell book when I was 20, and I have always been interested in Healing Therapies, and alternative ways to heal ourselves.  Everything with me always happens very organically.  I walked into a Wellness Centre in Cronulla a few years ago and was asked to hold space for Meditation classes, and Soul Circles, as well as offering Intuitive Healing and Crystal Therapy sessions.

Creating Jewellery has been part of my life for 25 years.  It started as gifts for family and friends and evolved into a business that complements all the other aspects of my life.  Love Anandi is Jewellery made with Intention, to assist in Healing and supporting you whilst looking beautiful.  The process of making my Jewellery starts with me meditating, Incense or Sage being burnt to clear the space, and Mantra’s (Sacred utterance for our Soul) playing. The Jewellery is infused with Intention from the very beginning.

Can you explain what intuitive energy work and crystal therapy are and how they might benefit us?

Crystal Therapy is using Crystals to help people over come Dis-Ease and draw out the negative that serves no purpose.  Intuitive Energy work is using Intuition to assist in healing and removing imbalances in energy within the body.

I have clients that will come to me, as they are feeling out of sorts, or curious, and want to see what happens.  I use Crystals to help balance the energy.  I start with Crystals gridded around the room, and under the table.  I place Crystals around the body and along the 7 main Energy centers (Chakras) on the body.  It is normally 1.5 hours – 2 hours for a session, where the client is lying on the table, while I am working.  After the session ends we sit together and discuss what has come up and come through to me throughout the session.

Some of the benefits are improved well-being, feeling calmer, balanced, changes to your health, peacefulness, having Clarity of thought, and an understanding of where you are at in life.

What would be your top tip for people wanting to learn to meditate but worry that they can’t switch their busy minds off enough?

Meditation is a practice.  We can not stop our thoughts.  That is impossible.  What we can do is learn to acknowledge them and let them pass. Starting small, just a few minutes each day will make a difference.  Don’t give up!  Even people who have been meditating for years, don’t always switch off, and that is OK.

Find yourself a quiet place to be.  Make sure you don’t have shoes on, and be comfortable either sitting or lying down.  Close your eyes, relax your jaw, mouth soft, and tongue resting at the bottom of your mouth.  Drop your shoulders away from your neck, and start with your breath.  If you can inhale and exhale through your nose.  If this isn’t possible then use your mouth.  Concentrating on breathing in (try taking your breathe all the way down to the bottom of your belly towards your tail bone), hold your breathe in, and slowly breath out.  Doing this for a couple of minutes each day will help towards a calmer state of mind.  There are many apps that you can listen too, but I find just learning to concentrate on the inhale and exhale calms the mind quickly, and can be done throughout the day to bring you back to your centre.

I’ve seen on your Facebook page that you run workshops locally and organize retreats away in places like Bali. Can you tell us a little bit about these, and are there any coming up?

Workshops are in the Sutherland Shire area. I hold Crystal workshops, and each workshop teaches us different aspects from cleansing, programming, healing, gridding. I also love holding workshops for Women to enable them to be Empowered, to Loving themselves, to speaking their Truth.  I have run meditation classes for kids in wellness centers, and schools, through to Mindfulness classes for teachers, and Principles of schools.

I take retreats throughout NSW, and I’m taking one to Fiji (was meant to be Bali, but changed location due to Volcano) in November for Women. This retreat is an intimate retreat in a Beach front private Villa, with morning Yoga and twice daily Meditations.  We are able to snorkel directly from our own private beach, as well as kayak and swim.  We will have a Soul Circle fire on our private beach in the evenings, and breakfast included every day.  There are massages, walks through the rainforest to hot springs to swim in, trips to markets, and cooking classes for 6 days/5 nights. The retreats are life changing and the bonds and friendships made are sacred. If anyone is interested there are 2 spots left for 7th – 12th November.

Where is the best place for people to go to look at your jewellery and what steps do they take if they would like to purchase a piece?

If you’re in Sydney you can find my Jewellery at HYA Yoga Miranda, Rust Avalon, Om Shanti Cronulla, or you can find me on Instagram and on Facebook.  If you see anything you like just send me a message to Instagram, Facebook or my email loveanandi@outlook.com.

I can custom make a piece especially for you.  We work together seeing what it is you are needing.

Each piece of my Jewellery comes with a little card explaining the Crystals used, and what intention the bracelet is for.

Thanks Min for inviting me to be part of your blog.  Love and light.  Anandi  xx

Thanks so much Annie for taking the time to answer my questions and to share and explain what you do with us all.   After reading all about what you do, I want to jump on a plane to Sydney and experience it all for myself right now, and one of those remaining spots for the retreat to Fiji in November sounds very tempting too!

If you want to see more of Anandi-Annie’s jewellery, attend a workshop, nab one of those final two spots on the retreat to Fiji, learn to meditate, experience crystal therapy or her intuitive energy work visit Love Anandi on Facebook and Instagram or contact her at the email address provided above.

What a great interview and what a very interesting lady your cousin is. I love the look of her jewellery and the work she does sounds fascinating – especially her retreats. I’d really like to learn to meditate and this has sparked me to find out more about what’s available on the West Coast over here – but who knows – maybe one day I’ll be on a Love Anandi retreat.

Thanks Jo! I’d love to go on one of Annie’s retreats. That Fiji one sounds blissful doesn’t it? Interviewing Annie has reminded me that I really should get meditation back into my daily routine!

I wish I could come to the Fiji retreat – sounds divine! Must admit I’m a bit of a skeptic with some of this stuff though …

I want to go on the Fiji retreat too. Just not sure the purse strings will stretch considering I’ve just been to Canberra and I’m off to Perth in a couple of weeks. Nothing wrong with a good dose of skepticism. I always have an open mind to everything and this stuff fascinates me! 🙂

Oh, how interesting – thanks Min and Anandi! I love the jewelry and the workshops and meditation retreats look amazing.

I want to meditate more and need to start doing so instead of just talking about it.

Oh and I love Anandi’s use of the phrase: Dis-Ease – so very true.

    • Reply Min October 5, 2017 at 1:57 pm

Her jewellery is beautiful isn’t it and have to agree also with your thoughts on the workshops and retreats! You should start incorporating some meditation into your days Deb – just a few minutes at a time to start with as Annie suggests. I thought the phrase Dis-Ease very clever and true too! 🙂

What an amazing woman – and to think – you’re related so you have some of those same genes! Her Fiji retreat sounds fantastic and her jewellery is beautiful too. Lovely to have met Annie and to learn some more about meditation as well. Now I just have to remember to breathe more!

I hope I share some of her genes Leanne – the genes that can meditate and relax and be calm at least! lol I agree that she is amazing and interesting and clever. So many talents and she is a lovely human being as well. 🙂

I know right? I might try and get to one next year. Might help if I fix up the little problem of an expired passport first! lol

Hi Annie! So great to meet you. I really need to learn how to meditate properly. I never make the time … (which is really what it’s all about after all). #teamlovinlife

    • Reply Min October 7, 2017 at 5:39 pm

Meditating is much simpler to do than people realise. The trick is 1) making the time for it and 2) making it a regular part of our routine (like brushing our teeth). I need to do get it back into my regular routine too!

Wow Min what an amazing cousin you have! I might need to look her up she isn’t all that far from me. I think I need to do a retreat! To Fiji sounds like heaven I love Fiji.

Thanks for introducing Annie to us.

My pleasure Cathy. She’s talented and lovely and you so should look her up. I’d love to go on one of those retreats too. Maybe next year! 🙂
