Merry Christmas

Here we are with my last post for 2023 and it’s the one where I wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I want to thank all of you – my blogging friends, my IRL friends (including my art friends), those that follow me on social media, and extended family who have been so encouraging and supportive and kind to me during these recent challenging times for myself and my family. Many of you I’ve always known as kind souls and you didn’t disappoint – always there with kind and encouraging messages for me. Thank you just doesn’t seem enough! More kind souls amongst you have been revealed too! Those who previously have followed along quietly in the background. You spoke up with the most lovely and kind messages, and they have really touched me. Never underestimate the difference those messages make. Those messages lifted my spirits at times when I was exhausted from worry and lack of sleep, was very stressed, and my spirits were so low. They meant so much to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you also for the wonderful support and enthusiasm for #WWWhimsy – I took the linkup on at a crazy time of my life. I was sick with Covid. I was busy caring for Mum (not when I had Covid though!), and then Mum’s fall out of bed and everything that has come thereafter … BUT I wouldn’t change any of it (the hosting of #WWWhimsy I mean … I would change the bit where Mum fell out of bed)! I love our little #WWWhimsy community. I really enjoy the connections with you all. I look forward to catching up with what you’ve been up to and what’s been happening in your world. I would be lost without our weekly catch ups via our posts and comments on each other’s posts and that is why I decided to step in when I did (after Denyse’s blog and linky closed) so that wouldn’t be lost to us and we could stay connected and sharing each week as usual.

I ‘am’ pressing pause on #WWWhimsy for 4 weeks though over the Christmas/New Year period because I want to walk my talk. I’m a strong believer in self care, being present, digital detox – all the things we need to stay mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually well. The Christmas and New Year period is a time of year when you shouldn’t even know what day it is. There should be no deadlines, no rushing, no busy’ness. It’s time to be present with your family, lie about reading books, float in the pool, find new places for all the gifts you received over Christmas, and time to have a break from cooking and eat up all the Christmas leftovers. It might be a good time to start or restart some new healthy habits (for me it’s to start walking again). It does us a lot of good to get away from gadgets and computers and social media and timelines.  I also think the break will help me to feel more refreshed and ready to kick off another blogging year on 17 January 2024. Well that’s how I feel anyway!

Thank you to everyone who has supported my blog. Those that just lurk in the background reading. Those that like my social media posts. Those that comment and interact. All of you! Y’all come back again next year you hear!

Thank you for all the support and encouragement for my art!  I’m a terrible self critic and those comments always help me to believe more in myself and spur me on to keep going with it. Thank you!

To wrap up, I would like to wish you and your family a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and best wishes for a healthy and happy 2024!

I’ll see you here for #WWWhimsy again on Wednesday 17 January 2024.  I look forward to hearing about your Christmas and New Year festivities and I have no doubt there will be a swarm of WOTY (word of the year) posts to read and enjoy. Safe and happy holidays!

Wishing that your Christmas sparkles with festive cheer, like the shining star that you are!

Ciao for now,

[A little secret to share – shhh – the ‘gift’ on the photo of me above was strategically placed to cover up a gaping dress showing a little too much cleavage. The Christmas trees were placed to balance the look out. The Santa hat added to complete the Christmas theme.]

Hi Min, Thank you for hosting #WWWhimsy and providing space for blogging connections to continue. That’s a beautiful photo of you. Last year I took a blogging break in the last two weeks of the year. This year I’m hosting through the holidays and will take my break at the end of January. I expect it to be quiet in the blogging world until after New Year. I wish you and your family a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Hi Natalie, thanks so much! It’s good you’ll still be hosting over the holiday period – providing some community for bloggers when it will no doubt be pretty quiet around the blogosphere! I wish I could link up with your ‘Weekend Coffee Share’ but I only post once a week on a Wednesday so the timing is out to do so unfortunately! Best wishes to you and your family for a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year. I look forward to catching up with you in 2024! xo

Hi Min, you’ve certainly had a roller-coaster year but you look fabulous and I love the Christmas music inclusion in your post. I hope your Mum is settling into her new home and this has reduced your stress. Thanks so much for stepping into the breach and hosting #WWWhimsy. I’ve enjoyed still having a weekly focus for linking up otherwise I may not still blog. I agree we all need a break and you are wise taking longer at this time of year. I had a health scare mid-year and had to press pause on my beloved podcast. I’m still deciding whether to restart or not.

Wishing you and your family and wonderful Christmas and New Year and I look forward to joining you for WWW in 2024. Once the dust settles let’s catch up for a coffee. I’d love that.

Hi Sue, it sure has been a bumpy year! There are people in the world dealing much worse scenarios though and I’m very conscious of that. I’m glad you like the Christmas music. I googled how to make it autoplay. Isn’t it amazing what you can learn thanks to YouTube these days! I’m less stressed and can sleep better now I think because I know Mum is not alone and has help 24/7. I still worry a lot about things though and know that we have a big job ahead of us in the new year (the house) which I am dreading. I think my stress levels will further reduce once Christmas is behind us I’m sad to say and after everything we need to do about the house is done. As for whether to restart your Podcast or not, I guess you have to listen to your gut feeling and what it is telling you. We get one precious life and as you know, when we get to these mid-life years we tend to need to regularly reassess our lives – are we spending our time wisely? is what we do bringing us joy? What can we cut from our days? What needs to be added etc etc. My life has been so higgly piggly that I most definitely need to do this in the new year, after the house sale is done etc. We’ll definitely catch up for that coffee in the new year. Best wishes to you and your family for a Merry Christmas and happy and healthy new year! xo

Many thanks for all you do Min and I hope the days ahead are happy and restful for you. Lovely photo of you!! I’ve scheduled a few more posts after Christmas and we will be back in January.

Hi Debbie, thank you! It’s no bother to me to host #WWWhimsy really and I do it cos I love it. I look forward to hearing all about your Christmas and New Year celebrations in the new year. In the meantime Merry Christmas and best wishes for a happy & healthy new year! xo

Absolutely love that picture of you – you must have been drinking from the fountain of eternal youth! You’re the hostess with the mostest with WWWhimsy – I appreciate all the work you do to keep the link up going and thank you for it. Wishing you and yours a very merry festive season and hope that 2024 is jam packed full of good times, good health and good fortune. I’ll try and take your advice with the resting over Christmas but I might have to hard pass on the pool time because it’s almost minus degrees here. See you on the other side, lovely!

Thanks Sammie – I love hosting #WWWhimsy so it’s no bother to me. Gosh I wish I really did drink from the fountain of eternal youth and that the fountain existed! My fountain of eternal youth is based on a small percentage of good luck (I don’t really have many wrinkles), good makeup (love my concealer cos I do get dark circles under my eyes), excellent skin care products (I have some beauties), standing in good light that is flattering on the face, and using portrait mode on my iPhone’s camera which is also quite flattering! I will forgive your hard pass on the pool time LOL! Have a wonderful wintery Christmas over there and cheers to a fabulously adventurous 2024 full of fun and good health! xo

How lovely is your Christmas photo and music. Thank YOU for sharing the Christrmas spirit after a year like no other. I too am glad you decided to keep the blogging community connected after I retired. I wish and yours a very peaceful Christmas time. I will be back in 2024 with my stories from Substack.

Thank you Denyse! I’m quite pleased with myself with regards to the music. I found a tutorial on YouTube on how to put an MP3 file on autoplay and it works! Hooray! Takes a kind and generous heart to know a kind and generous heart Denyse! I hope you’re feeling better now and can enjoy a wonderful Christmas with your family! I’ll look forward to catching up with you again in 2024! xo

Hello Min, boy do you look good considering all the ups and downs that life has thrown at you recently.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, I do hope you are able to enjoy this time with your own little family as well as with your mum and the extended one. Once the next couple of days are over you’ll be ‘good to go’!
Thanks for being there and continuing the Wednesday Meet Up – I think (in fact I am sure) we all agree that you were just the one to take it over – all being well you’ll sae us here bright and early in January.
    Take care

Hello Cathy! Oh thank you, but trust me, I don’t always look like that! That’s the pick of the bunch selected for the post! lol Over the Xmas/New Year period I’m hoping for some time to ‘potter’. I haven’t had time to potter in a long long time. I like to potter around my house and yard and tidy and rearrange and declutter. I also hope I can have time in my pool (still haven’t got in yet this summer). It’s no problem for me hosting #WWWhimsy – in fact I love it! Thanks so much for your kind words! I look forward to catching up with you again in 2024. Meanwhile, have a wonderful Christmas and safe and happy holidays! xo
