So we had our few days away at Moffat Beach, Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, just over an hour north of us here in Brisbane. It was beautiful, but of course, not long enough. It was however better than nothing at all and will help me to get by until our longer holiday in mid-May.
It’s busy now that I’m home and I don’t have much time to write a blog post (I will have gone to Mum’s the day before this publishes), so I thought I’d do a mostly visual post with some of the photo’s and a reel I made and shared on social media from our little getaway that showcases how beautiful it is at Moffat Beach.
A little about Moffat Beach. It’s not a patrolled beach (no surf lifesavers). It’s a dog friendly beach though! Dogs can be leash free from after 4pm and up until 8am and must be on a lead from 8am up until 4pm. You can walk along Moffat Beach to Dickie Beach (patrolled) and keep going along Currimundi Beach (patrolled on weekends and school holidays). It’s a fabulous walk. You can also walk along the walkway above the beach at Moffat the other way around to Shelly Beach and that’s a gorgeous walk too. The block of shops near the beach contains several cafes/restaurants, fish and chipperies, there’s an art gallery, some homewares shops and some ladies fashion too!

And here’s the reel I shared to Instagram made up of a mix of some of the video’s and photo’s I took (make sure your sound is on). It was a lovely few days!
Ciao for now,

Stunning weather, Min and a great opportunity for some much needed time out. I’ve never stayed in Caloundra but the view from your apartment is beautiful and so relaxing. I might check the area out for a short getaway for Mike and I. We have a cruise coming up in June to Papua New Guinea and a European holiday later in the year, so not sure when we will get to the SC but hopefully a midweek sneaky getaway could happen.
Hi Sue, I can’t believe you’ve never stayed at Caloundra! We holidayed there a lot when we were kids. I love everything about Caloundra. I hope you and Mike do get a little getaway up there. I’m sure you’ll love it! The cruise in June and a European holiday later in the year both sound exciting! It’s good to have things to look forward to isn’t it? Have a lovely Easter! xo
Just lovely. I had freinds that were mad for Moffats beach (divorced now). Your photos are lovely. Hoping to get up there at some point this year…
Hi Lydia – gosh I hope Moffat Beach had nothing to do with the divorce! lol (shouldn’t laugh) I hope you get up that way for a break this year – it’s such a wonderful place!
I was following your adventures (but not in a stalky way!) on the gram and it looked like a fabulous getaway. The weather looked perfect and I’m a big fan of dog friendly beaches. Sunshine Coast by name and Sunshine Coast by nature!
LOL not in a stalky way! It was a lovely getaway – just wish it had been longer but still glad for it anyway! I adored dog watching on my walks. I saw so many different breeds and it makes me so happy to see happy frolicking dogs doing what they love! Teddy would love it there! xo
Hi Min – the beach looks beautiful and I’m glad the weather was so lovely too. It reminds me of Esperance (a town and beach in the far south of WA) I think it’s the proximity of the houses to the beach and the pine trees – Bunbury has similar outlooks too. I think time away to just chill out and enjoy the views and the slower pace would have been so good for your soul. I’m glad you took the time for a little self-care and relaxation.
Hi Leanne, we were so lucky with the weather – thank goodness! I loved being close to the beach and loved our view and yes those norfolk pines are fabulous! It was a short break but definitely good for my soul. I soaked it all in as much as humanly possible that’s for sure! xo
Looks like a wonderful break! Can’t believe it’s still so hot and humid here tho!
Hi Sherry, it was great! Yes it’s still hot and humid through the day but starting to get chilly in the mornings! I’m looking forward to cooler days!
Hi Min, lovely to see your shots and hear that you enjoyed your getaway. We spent Christmas there last year and have booked the same house again for this year in Battery Hill near Dickies Beach, it was delightful area. We rode our bikes and walked along the paths bear the beach. The weather looked great for you too! We only have 37 days until we leave for our UK trip so I understand the hanging out for a holiday feeling!!
Hi Debbie – it was fabulous to have a bit of time at the beach. I just love beach walks and splashing my feet along the water’s edge. I have a soft spot for Dickie Beach too – we stayed there sometimes when we were kids. Where you stayed sounds perfect and good to hear you’re going back again later this year. 34 days now till you leave for your UK trip – it’ll be here before you know it! xo
I loved the draw your day from Moffat – the one with the lovely bright blue sky and the trees. It looks like a fab getaway.
Oh thanks Jo! I’ve been very self critical over that one but I am with most of them I do I guess. I’ve discovered that it’s not just me that is like that – many, many artists have the same issue. I just ignore that voice and share anyway and keep going. The getaway was short but much needed and fabulous! xo
Hello Min, what a great place for a relaxing break and what a wonderful view from your balcony – I can imagine sitting there enjoying a coffee. I liked your photos and reel and your choice of music was spot on.
Hi Elizabeth, thank you! It was so nice to get away and get my feet on a beach and in the sea and soak it all in even if for only a short time. It helped. I know though that I need to do that again but for longer next time! I was pretty pleased with my music choice for that reel too! lol
I am so glad you got your beach and ocean fix for a few days Min. I love an almost Autumn holiday like this at the beach and we had a couple staying in a beach side unit at Port Macquarie. I am now knowing where your sketch came from of the seagull.
Thank you for sharing your post with the Wednesday’s Words and Pics community this week. I hope, if you are enjoying a long weekend for Easter, that it is going well. See you next week, I hope. Denyse.
Hi Denyse, I’m glad I got my ocean fix for a few days too! I love the beach this time of year though it was surprisingly very hot for this time of year! Ahhh Port Macquarie – haven’t been there in a long time but I remember a couple of childhood holidays there! Yes the seagull sketch came from a photograph I took while away. Not the one you see here in this post but another of the same seagull but zoomed in closer. Wishing you a very Happy Easter! xo
