I’m relatively new to the Netflix party. My daughter urged me to get it. “You’d love it Mum!!” I was not so sure about that but I agreed to give the free trial period a go. That was back in December 2016. What can I say … I am hooked! I love Netflix!
In addition to a few movies, so far I’ve watched the following series:
Gilmore Girls – the new season. Loved it!
The Crown – really enjoyed it. So insightful into the Queen’s earlier days!
Shadow Hunters – because I have a thing for some young adult book series and I had read this series. Really enjoyed seeing the books I had read brought to life!
Grace and Frankie – I loved this series! Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are so good together. Cannot wait till the next series comes out.
Jane the Virgin – Loved this one! I’ve watched all the series and felt lost for a while when I had watched the last episode. Another one where I’m looking forward to the next series coming out!
Outlander – Season 2. I have the first season on DVD & and I’ve read all the books! Goes without saying that I adore everything Outlander. Jamie, Jamie, Jamie! Cannot wait till Season 3 is on Netflix … but considering it was a long wait for Season 2 I think I will be waiting for a while longer yet!
I’m currently watching:
Anne with an E – I’m a life long fan of Anne of Green Gables and though I had some reservations about new people playing the roles that I know so well from the original movies, I am very impressed. This Anne is brilliant, as are the other characters. I’m enjoying watching this very much.
Girl Boss – I saw someone recommend this series on Facebook so added to my list. I’m enjoying it so far!
On my list yet to watch (if I like them):
- Suits
- The 100
- Heartland
- Good Witch
- How to get away with murder
- The Originals
- Fuller House
- Shameless
- Land Girls
- House of Cards
- The Fall
- Please Like Me
- Marcella
- Santa Clarita Diet
So there you go! My experience with Netflix so far. Let’s face it, when the non-ratings periods for television come about, viewing options are usually very poor. Netflix is awesome all the time but particularly at these times!
What have you watched on Netflix that you would recommend I add to my list? I can’t wait to hear!
Ciao for now,

There’s heaps I need to watch on Netflix. I’ve watched a few Sci Fi things but honestly haven’t put it on for over a month or so. I’ve been reading a lot more and having early nights so until I let myself watch TV during the day I just haven’t had the opportunity (rather than the time).
I love it though!!!
I can’t seem to concentrate long enough to read! It’s weird because when I was still working in the city, I would go through so many books!! I would read on the train commute there and back and then a little bit in bed before sleep. I’ve watched Netflix at night when there’s nothing on regular TV I want to watch. It’s been great! 🙂
Yay for The Crown, my favourite of all, closely followed by Grace and Frankie – so clever. I loved House of Cards too and we have found some beaut music docos if that’s your thing. Enjoy!
I agree Jan – The Crown was fantastic and so was Grace and Frankie! Good to hear House of Cards is good. I might like music docos – depends on who they are about I guess! 🙂
Wow! You’ve certainly been getting your money’s worth out of Netflix. I’ve been resisting joining because I’m worried I’ll spend even more time in front of a screen. Nice to meet another Diana Gabaldon fan – I am besotted by her books (and Jamie!)
I don’t spend any more time in front of the screen than I did before Leanne. I watch it at night and only if there’s nothing on regular TV that I want to watch or nothing else I’d rather be doing, etc. There was a non-ratings period not long ago where there was nothing of interest to me on TV for ages! I got through quite a few Netflix series during that period! Oh and yes, I loved reading Diana’s books! It’s great seeing the story brought to life isn’t it?! 🙂
I think what I love most about the Outlander TV series is that the characters so perfectly reflect the book’s depiction. So often movies are a bit of a let down – in this one they got it just right.
Yes they do it so well. I was a bit disappointed initially with the guy playing Jamie. He just didn’t match up with the Jamie I had envisioned in my mind after reading the books. I still think he is not tall or bulky enough and his hair isn’t long enough. He is nice though! 🙂
I am absolutely hooked on Netflix myself. I’ve watched some interesting shows that I thought I wouldn’t like but just couldn’t get enough of. – The OA, Orange is the New Black, Schitts Creek, Between plus I’ve really enjoyed Riverdale, Jessica Jones, Chesapeake Shores (I think you’d love this one) and The Good Witch. I watched Designated Survivor and Shooter with hubby and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt with my daughter who has now recommended I watch The 100!
You’re part of the reason I decided to give it a try as you’d told me how much you were enjoying it! Thank you for all your suggestions! All noted and I’ll go add them to my list. My niece tells me The 100 is awesome! 🙂 xo
I’m rewatching The Crown at the moment, loved Outlander, binge watched Shetland, am about to move onto London Spy.
Ooooo Shetland and London Spy are ones I haven’t heard of. I’ll be checking those out then. Thanks for that Jo! 🙂
Thanks for introducing me to some great new series. Oh I so want to see The Crown.
I’m happy to know I’ve introduced you to some new ones Jo! You will LOVE The Crown – I have no doubts! 😉 xo
We tend to watch movies more so than series on Netflix. The only two series we’ve watched are Outlander (loved it until the last 2 eps of Series 1, too violent and yuk for me, so that put me off watching any more); and The Paradise which we loved.
I’ve watched quite a few movies too Janet. You should persist with Outlander – it is so good. I’ve seen both series and can’t wait till the next one comes to Netflix! I haven’t heard of The Paradise so I’ll check that one out – thank you! 🙂
I don’t dare get Netflix, as there just aren’t enough hours in the day for me as it is. I’m pretty sure I”d end up watching back to back series and movies galore. I have no self control! #TeamLovinLife
Haha – I understand! It hasn’t been a problem for me though. I haven’t watched Netflix in over a week I think. Sometimes I’m not in the mood for watching shows. Sometimes there is something on regular TV that I want to watch. Other times, it’s perfect Netflix viewing time! 🙂
Outlander is my soft spot too—in fact we bought Starz just so we could watch it!! I can’t wait for the next series!!

I can’t wait for the next series either! 🙂
I’m loving The Get Down right now. The colour, the music, the Baz Luhrman factor.
SSG xxx
I hadn’t heard of ‘The Get Down’ before but I’ll be checking it out now you’ve mentioned it! Thanks SSG! 🙂 xo
I didn’t know there was a new Anne of Green Gables!
Yes – there is! It’s called Anne with an ‘E’ and it’s really good! 🙂
I just finished all 8 seasons of heartland and loved it. Also loved the 100, Santa Clarita diet (some eww factor) and suits from your to watch list
Thanks for the feedback Deb – good to know! 🙂 xo
I love Gilmore Girls. Because Tahlia had never seen the first series where in the midst of that right now. We’re up to where Loralai and Luke first start dating and where Rory and Dean get together FINALLY but it’s after he’s married. Oops! Seriously edge of your seat stuff …
xo

I love the quirkiness and wittiness of Gilmore Girls. It’s been so long since I’ve seen the first series, I’m not even sure if I saw all of it! Hope Tahlia is loving it! 🙂 xo
Wow, that’s a lot of watching! I’ve hard of all of these (at least the ones with the pictures) but I’m more a reader myself and am currently reading Game of Thrones. I much prefer to read first… #lovinlifelinky
I love reading too Carol but have found myself not able to slow down my mind enough to focus on reading lately. Think I need a holiday! If a book or book series ends up a movie or TV series I prefer to have read the book/s first too. I don’t know a thing about Game of Thrones – haven’t watched it or read it. Should I?
I am love, love, loving the Anne of Green Gables remake, so authentic. xx
I’m loving it too Nicole. I was a bit hesitant about it but wow – it’s really great! 🙂 xo
