Snaps ‘n’ Crackles #10 – This is me!

lady, arms outstretched, this is me

When you read this I will be in Melbourne and tonight I will be attending the 2018 Bupa Blog Awards dinner event where the 2018 Bupa Blog Award winners will be announced.

If you’re a regular reader of my blog you’d know that by some miraculous good fortune, someone nominated me and then I was selected by the judges as a Finalist in the Personal Category of the Bupa Blog Awards.  You’d also know that I’m excited, and that I’m anxious! I also have a terribly nasty inner critic that becomes even worse when I’m anxious, but I am stronger than her and my anxiety.  In fact, one of my favourite songs (This is Me – from the movie ‘The Greatest Showman’) is my new mantra and listening to it, REALLY listening to the words, gives me strength and fortitude, so Bupa peeps and fellow finalists – look out ’cause here I come, and I’m marching on to the beat I drum …

I’M NOT SCARED TO BE SEEN

I MAKE NO APOLOGIES

THIS IS ME!

I AM BRAVE

I AM BRUISED

I AM WHO I’M MEANT TO BE

THIS IS ME!

Wish me luck!  I mean luck for overcoming my anxiety and silencing the inner critic so that I can walk into the event on my own, have some fun and enjoy myself! I don’t need any wins.  I have already won, and I truly mean that.  I was selected as a finalist which is extremely flattering and humbling and with that comes some wonderful opportunities.  I have been taken out of my comfort zone and forced to face down my anxiety.  I stumbled a bit but I didn’t hide away.  I didn’t let it reduce my world and deny me this experience and opportunity.  I faced it down.  I’m already a winner.  I have won!

Keep watch on my Instagram and Facebook Page for some snaps and no doubt you’ll hear all about it when I return.

I’m so excited for you too Min – I feel like you’re our Midlife Rep and you’ll do us proud. You are incredibly brave to front up to all this by yourself (much braver than me!) and I hope you have an absolute ball xx

You have already won, Min just by stepping out of your comfort zone and attending the awards on your own. Can’t wait to hear all about it. Congratulations!

I have won Sue. I totally agree! I was so scared but I did it anyway. I’m also very excited about the fact that I’m now welcomed into the Bupa Alumni and have opportunities to learn from them and work with them during 2019! 🙂 xo

I now know how you went and you nailed it. Well-done on enjoying yourself in a place that was bothering you. I hope things continue to go well Min. You are already a winner! Denyse x

Oh thank you Denyse! I don’t know about nailed it but I sure did it and had a great time. It was surreal at times but I drank it all in … so much so that I didn’t take any photos which will make my blog post on the night a bit boring! lol xo

PS I watched the Greatest Showman for the 4th time on Friday night with my grand daughter. Best movie. Such an empowering soundtrack.

Thanks Leanne! You’ve seen how I went now in my post today. I love that track from The Greatest Showman! I have only seen the movie once but would watch it multiple times. It’s one of those movies! 🙂
