Some new favourite things

June 17, 2016

It’s been 13 days since I have published a post on the blog!  Outrageous!  I’ve been preoccupied with recovering from a bad flu and asthma (all good now!), a daughter moving out (quite confronting!) and a trip to Sydney and back (such a joy to get away), amongst other things.

I’ve got posts planned for next week that will cover everything about my trip to Sydney but I thought I’d put together a quick one for today to say hi and to give the blog a little newly published blog post love!

When thinking about what I would write about that would be quick and easy to prepare (since I didn’t start typing this until 9:30pm last night!) it came to me in a flash.  I would post some pictures of a couple of my new favourite things (thanks to a recent birthday).   If you follow me on Instagram then you may be seeing these again but oh what the heck – there is so much heavy and horrific stuff going on in the world – we could all do with a little lightness so let’s be excited about new things!

It’s also a timely reminder to be grateful that I even have these new favourite things.  Look, we don’t always get what we want, but what we have is often more than many others will ever have.  It’s so easy to get caught up in the hassles and problems of life and to focus too much on the things we don’t yet or can’t have, that we forget to be grateful for those things which we do have.  So right now, I’m very grateful for these two new favourite things thanks to the generosity of family on my birthday.

Pictures 1 and 2: ‘New Favourite Thing No. 1’ – my newly purchased Camera and Laptop Bag, ‘Catalina – Caramel’ from Epiphanie that has come to me all the way from the USA – thanks to some birthday money given to me by family.

Picture No. 3: ‘New Favourite Thing No. 2’is also thanks to family for my birthday – a 13″ MacBook Pro laptop with retina display which means I can now be portable with my blogging and my photo uploading and editing.  Yay for that!

Did you enter my Birthday Giveaway?  Too late to now sorry to say – it closed at 5pm on 14 June.  Good luck to those of you who did enter!  I will be announcing the winner next Tuesday 21 June.

Love your new bag. Very stylish. I thought it was a handbag at first. And your new laptop looks fab. I am so overdue for a new one it is embarrassing. But alas fencing, a whopping great power bill (I hope they’ve made a mistake!) and a tax bill have all put paid to that lol! My birthday’s not until Feb so might start working on the family now – drop a few hints 😉

I love the new bag too Shauna. Yes it looks like a handbag and that’s why I like it. It has enough room for the usual handbag stuff – purse, lipstick etc etc plus my camera and additional lenses and even my laptop if I want. Love that it has a shoulder strap too which will be handy if I have a lot in there and it is quite heavy. Plenty of time till Feb – yes start dropping hints and leaving wish lists around! lol 😉 xo

I LOVE your bag!!! I just ordered myself a new camera bag from Lilah Snow (check out her bags, she’s an aussie designer, and if you participate in her monthly IG challenge you have the chance to win one of her gorgeous bags, and you can never have too many beautiful camera bags in my opinion!) as a birthday present to myself (my birthday is on Tuesday) because I will of course need it to house my other birthday present, a Canon EOS 1N 35mm film camera. Managed to find one of eBay for a good price, and it will work with all of the lenses I already own. I can’t wait for it arrive and to start experimenting with film again. I’m also grateful for my amazing husband, who works so hard for us, and is so selfless. I honestly don’t know what I would do without him!
P.S. Happy belated birthday too! I can’t wait to see all your Sydney photos!

I love my bag too! Lilah Snow – I had heard of her but just went and had another look. Nice bags! Which one have you ordered I wonder? I will have to check out her IG challenge because I would quite like to win one of her bags! Wow – your new camera sounds very exciting!! Film camera!! It’s been a long time since I’ve used a film camera I have to say. I didn’t take too many Sydney photo’s sadly – just wasn’t enough time! Thanks for the birthday wishes! 🙂 xo

I am loving that bag!! I need a new one that will fit my laptop in. The one I have currently is looking a little bit too loved. It’s gorgeous!

What an ace bag and I’m loving that Mac! I got one about a year ago and it’s been an absolute game changer. I can’t wait to hear about your trip to Sydders!

Lucky me! The trip to Sydney was awesome – wish it had’ve been for a bit longer though – it went in a flash!
