It’s true! I will soon be stepping off the blogging, technology, social media, housework and so on ‘treadmill’ and on to the beach!!
It’s not going to be a long holiday – but oh my goodness I am so looking forward to my 5 nights away at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast (about an hour down the road)!!
It may not be far away in distance but it will be a world away from all the responsibilities of home. It’s going to be a little pre-Christmas de-stress, chill out and reviver and I need it so bad!! My sister and her husband are going too. They will be staying in the same complex, different apartment. It makes it fun because we can get together for happy hour, dinner, beach walks, and I will have my sister to browse the shops with. We’ll do some stuff together but still have our own time. I plan on doing lots of reading. I haven’t been doing enough reading lately because my mind has become far too busy to be able to. It’s time to quieten that crazy monkey mind of mine again.
I will be unplugging completely for this holiday. I can feel it in my bones that I really, really need a break from technology, social media and computer screens. The only technology I will be taking with me is my phone (can’t live without it) and my beautiful DSLR camera and various lenses. I won’t be blogging while I’m away. I had considered scheduling some posts for while I was away but have decided against it. You know why? Because I know myself. I would feel compelled to log in, link up, read other blog posts, comment on other blog posts, read and respond to comments on my posts and no – I need to switch off – completely – and give myself permission and space to really be present in each moment, relax and enjoy those precious days.
You can see what I get up to if you follow me on Instagram. I will be posting some snaps there. I love Instagram and it’s so easy peasy! They’ll just be phone snaps because I won’t have any computer with me to upload my DSLR photographs to. They will have to wait until I get home.
Tomorrow, there will be a Wordless Wednesday post from me and then there will be no further blog posts until Monday 22 December when I return with a Mindful Monday post.
I hope to return feeling a lot more refreshed than when I left and with that monkey mind of mine back under control again! 😉
Have you got any holidays planned? Are you going to unplug for it? You so should!
Ciao for now,
p.s. The photograph used for today’s post is of steps on to Sunrise Beach at the Sunshine Coast! Photo’s of Burleigh Heads will come when I return 😉

Go you Min, we are away for a bit over the silly season and I plan to leave my laptop at home and not switch on either, do no work for the first time in YEARS! Have a ball down my way and I hope the weather picks up xx
Good to hear you’ve got some time away coming up Em and very pleased that you intend to unplug for it too! Thinking of you today and hoping all has gone well with your two little ones getting their tonsils out!! xo
Good for you! Enjoy x #TeamIBOT
Thanks Bec. I will! 🙂
Can I come? No, seriously!
LOL – It might be a bit squeezy! 😉
Enjoy your holiday. I just love Burleigh, it’s a beautiful spot. Totally deserving of your zero technology idea xx
Thanks Carla – I love it there too but haven’t been there in ages! We’ve been going up the Sunshine Coast a lot more over recent years. I used to go to Burleigh every year as a child. So looking forward to it and discovering what has changed since I last visited! 🙂 xo
I see what you mean Min!! Have an amazing unplugged time. Rebalance yourself and come back to enjoy Christmas and all the trimmings. It’s sounds perfect!
Yes I knew you would! I am very much looking forward to my unplugged time. It will be awesome! 🙂 xo
Good on you! I am feeling the need to switch off in more ways than one. I find that I literally need to get away to achieve this, but alas no holidays for me! Enjoy 🙂
It’s easier to unplug by going away I think. When at home you tend to fall into your usual habits. I hope you find a way to switch off. We all need it at times! x
Oh you have my aching with envy. Have a wonderful break!
I hope you get a little break away too at some point. It’s only 5 nights but I’m going to make the most of every moment of it 🙂 x
Have a wonderful holiday! Such a good idea to disconnect x
Thanks so much Bele! I think everyone needs to disconnect now and then 😉 x
Oh I am insanely jealous! Burleigh Heads is one of my all time favourite places. As a kid we had every single holiday there in the southern cross apartments. Please have dinner one night at montezumas in the arcade for me. Vegetarian number one and a margarita. Bliss 🙂 #teamIBOT
We used to go there all the time as kids too! I don’t know the Southern Cross apartments but I’ll look out for them when I’m down there. As kids we used to always stay at Hillhaven Apartments which are at the very tip of Burleigh headland and adjacent to the Burleigh Heads National Park. I’ll never forget the walk back home up the big hill! We’re not staying there this time though. Thanks for the recommendation of montezumas! It has been noted! 😉 x
Taking a full break like that is always best. When I first started blogging I scheduled posts or guests but like you said I then popped in for comments etc. a total break is awesome. Would love to know more about the apartments you are staying at if you can email me (if you don’t want to say here) as we are looking to get away not too far but just need like a 5 day recharge as a family. Have fun xxx
I think so too Deb. I know that as a ‘blogger’ the right thing to do would be to have scheduled posts and/or guest posts but as ‘myself’ and also as a blogger who is passionate about things like self-care and mindfulness etc … then I think it is more important that I lead by example (walk my talk!) and I think disconnecting/unplugging needs to be done more often 😉 I’m more than happy to pass on the name of the apartments to you (but you’re right – not here). I’ll send you an email shortly 😉 xo
Burleigh Beach is awesome – I’m actually off there in Jan to spend some time with the parents and am counting down the days. I hope you enjoy your little slice of tech-free paradise.
Fancy you heading there in Jan as well! That would be awesome to have family living there to visit! I haven’t been to Burleigh in ages so I’m really looking forward to rediscovering it. I’m sure the shops etc have really changed since I was there last! 🙂
Enjoy your break, and hanging out with family Min! We had planned to visit Burleigh Heads a few years ago but never got there due to volcanic ash, perhaps sometime in the future.
Thanks Steph – I will for sure! You’ve got me pondering how volcanic ash stopped you visiting Burleigh? lol x
