Taking Stock – December 2019 & Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

It’s time for Taking Stock again. This is my final quarterly Taking Stock post for 2019. You can read the other three at these links – Taking Stock – March 2019; Taking Stock – June 2019; and Taking Stock – September 2019

Making:  soaked biscuit/kibble for my foster kittens!
Cooking:  every night wears thin doesn’t it?  I’d love a chef cooking amazing meals for me for a change. Wouldn’t that be nice?
Sipping:  Baileys on ice. What can I say – we all have our weaknesses.
Reading:  dosage requirements for ‘Baycox’ worming treatment for the kittens. It required some mathematical skill that’s for sure and maths is certainly not my strong point! 0.4 ml per 1kg. Kittens at the time were 389g, 395g, 437g, and 446g. See how you go with working out how much each kitten gets! 😆
Looking:  At the kittens sooo much. They are so adorable and such time wasters! (BTW – plenty of kitten pics at the foster kittens link under ‘making’ above)
Listening:  To the recent rain was glorious!  Please can we have some more!
Wishing:  For an end to the drought and the bushfires. It is so scary and so devastating.
Enjoying:  Well of course – my first foster kittens!
Liking:  that a new year and a new decade will soon be upon us. I love a fresh start!
Loving:  that I finally put aside my fears and took the plunge to give fostering a go.
Buying:  quite a bit of kitten paraphernalia lately! 😆
Watching:  Netflix a lot more now that regular TV has gone into Christmas holiday mode (eg rubbish and reruns)
Hoping:
again … for relief from drought and an end to the bushfires … please!
Needing:  a massage so bad!  Must book one for the  new year!
Wearing:  my gorgeous Ruby Red Corundum Uberkate ring brings me much joy!
Following:  lots of kitten foster carer instagram feeds these days!
Noticing:  that there is a lot of laundry involved in kitten foster care!
Sorting:  out Christmas gifts has been a bit more organised this year than the previous two years
Getting:  into the swing of this fostering gig!
Saving:  toilet rolls and newspaper for 1) kitten play, and 2) lining the pen under the litter trays.
Bookmarking:  kitten foster care wish list items on Amazon.com.au
Coveting:  this and this for my future foster kittens. If only money grew on trees!
Opening:  a few delivery boxes of late … not for me … for the kittens!
Giggling:  at the funny little antics of the kittens. They’re such little time wasters but bring such joy!
Feeling: so happy to be healthy again! The pneumonia I had basically stole two months of my life.
Hearing:  the happy contented purrs from the kittens and the really cute joyful sounds that Nicko makes brings me such joy!
Obsessing:  over trying to be a good foster carer. Lots of research has been done and lots of observing other foster carers. I want to do the best for these babies … err … kittens.

Oh hey – did you catch on to the fact that I’m fostering kittens?!! 😂🤣

If you’re interested in Taking Stock too, pop over to this post at Pip’s blog – Meet me at Mikes, where the whole idea originated from. Scroll to the bottom of the post and you can copy and paste a blank list of the prompt words and go from there!

This will be my last post published for 2019.  I’m going to give myself a bit of a break from the blog but I’ll be back sometime in January 2020.  I’m throwing caution to the wind and leaving my return date open.

I’d like to wish you a very Merry Christmas!  I hope you have a wonderful day with your family and that you enjoy a bit of a break and relaxation time over the festive season.  To those of you missing a loved one this Christmas (and always), I see you, I feel you, and as the angel image above depicts – I’m sending you love and wishing you good health, safety, peace and happiness.  I’ll see you in the new year – a whole new decade!

Ciao for now,

I’m linking up today with Denyse Whelan for #LifeThisWeek

Mmmm Baileys on ice. I’d forgotten how good that is. Also with ice cream instead of the ice.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Min!

Hi Min – Your foster kittens are so cute and they’re lucky to have you taking such good care of them. I’m glad you feel healthy again after the nasty pneumonia bout. Wishing you and your family a merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year 2020! #lifethisweek

Hi Min have a wonderful Christmas and a fabulous 2020. I think you are smitten with your kittens 🙂 xx

You’re very clever Sue. Yes! I am smitten with my kittens! lol However, I know they’re not mine … just in my care for a short period of time till they are old enough to go to their furever home. Saying goodbye to them will be tough but I will get used to it (hopefully). Have a wonderful Christmas Sue and here’s to a fabulous 2020 for us all! xo

I’ve definitely been enjoying the kitten spam. How on earth will you be able to give each up? I guess…. knowing there’ll be another needing a new home is a consolation.

I hope you have a lovely break and happy new year Min! xxx

Good to know you’re enjoying the kitten spam. I’m worried it’s gonna put people off and I’ll lose followers. Trying to contain it to my Insta stories. I’m thinking I might start a new Insta page where I can kitten spam to my hearts content! It is going to be VERY hard to say goodbye to these kittens. I have just got to hope that they go to good homes and I think after a few litters I will become more used to the farewell part. It feels good to play a part in saving their lives. Have a wonderful Christmas Deb and cheers to a fabulous 2020! xo

I love a good Taking Stock post! Oh how cute are those kitty kittens! I get how much you love them because I was exactly the same with Teddy Roosevelt. Make the most of the kitten stage because they grow up so fast! Like you, I’m having a bloggy break and am leaving my return date open, it feels so liberating! Wishing you the happiest of holidays and a happy and healthy new year. See you on the other side!

I love a good Taking Stock post too! Oh the kittens. I didn’t realise how much I love them. I also have learned that I can’t control my heart. I have fallen in love with each and every one of them. Two have gone already and it was so hard. The last two will shortly follow. So I know each foster a bit of my heart will go with them but hopefully I’ll get better at dealing with it. My bloggy break has been longer than planned due to having no internet and could be a bit hit and miss for a while. My first post for 2020 this coming Thursday will explain more. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas Sammie and all the best for a fabulous 2020 for you! xo

What a great wrap up post for the year Min! You’re on a roll with the fostering and it seems to be so much fun for you. I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling better now and hope you enjoy your break. All the best for 2020, I’ll see you there 🙂 Merry Christmas xx #lifethisweek

Thanks Deb – I’m late with replying to comments because we’ve had no internet for over a month (long story). I love fostering the kittens but I’ll need to harden my heart a little. It’s so hard when they go (two have gone already and the final two will follow soon). Hope you had a wonderful Christmas over there in England with your daughter and family. I know it’s been a worrying time with all thats been going on here at home in Australia with the bushfires. Hopefully 2020 will improve from here! xo

So good to read this update Min. Kittens are featuring in your life and I see that is such a great way to move on from what was NOT the best of times when you were so unwell.
Thank you for being a “loyal linker” for Life This Week in 2019 and I look forward to sharing more stories and reading yours in 2020. Happy nearly New Year. See you on Monday 6 January 2020 for the first link up if you choose… 1/51 Word/Intention for 2020 6.1.2020. Denyse.

Thanks Denyse – I wasn’t an every week without fail ‘loyal linker’ but I linked as often as was practical at the time. Hopefully I’ll get myself sorted and link more regularly during 2020. You’re right – I’m so grateful to have recovered from the horrid months of sickness I had in late 2019 and am enjoying my first litter of foster kittens. I look forward to another year of keeping in touch via our blogs! 🙂 xo

I’m loving the pics and videos of your fosters! Can’t wait to see if you’ll have a foster fail at any point! 😀 I hope you had a lovely Christmas and best wishes for 2020

    • Reply Min January 14, 2020 at 9:47 pm

Glad you’re enjoying Sanch. I love the kittens. Two have gone now and the final two will soon follow. So.Hard!! Hopefully another litter soon after. I’ll have to get used to the farewells. I could have foster failed with this very fist litter. I fell in love with each and every one of them. BUT … I was determined to stick to the plan and I have. I hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas and I hope 2020 will be a good year for you! xo
