Taking Stock – June 2016

June 28, 2016

It’s time for my second ‘Taking Stock’ post for 2016.  This year I’m taking stock quarterly.  The first one was in March, the next after this one will be in September and then again in December.

The Taking Stock concept and its prompts is the brainchild of Pip from Meet Me At Mikes.  If you’d like to play along, you can grab a blank list here.  This month Pip has added some new prompts.  Oooo exciting!  Can you pick which ones are new?

Making:  Changes in my daughter’s room since she has moved out (see empty room in collage above).
Cooking:  Soups in the slow cooker – one of my favourite things about winter!
Drinking:  Water – cold filtered tap water and some lovely cold sparkling water (thanks to SodaStream)
Reading:  Blog posts – just can’t find time to chill and read a book!  I need a holiday!
Wanting:  My Dad to get stronger and better so he can go home from hospital.
Looking:  Forward to a new job prospect on the horizon!
Playing:  “The Big Chill” – it reminds me of happy times.

Deciding:  That it is time for a new logo and look here at Write of the Middle.
Wishing:  That time would slow down pretty please.
Enjoying:  My new camera bag and laptop.
Waiting:  For the rain to go away (raining at the time of typing this) so I can do my beloved waterfront walks with Ava (the dog).
Liking:  The cooler weather – it agrees with me muchly!
Wondering:  If a certain person is the person I thought they were or if I never actually knew them at all.
Loving:  That I had a getaway to Sydney!! πŸ™‚
Pondering:  My next getaway!
Considering:  Options for a new blog logo!
Buying:  A sofa bed (and cushions – oh I love cushions!!), in preparation for an overseas guest arriving for a 3 week stay in early July.

sofa bed, cushions, sofa

WatchingMasterChef and The Voice – it’s a juggling act at times!
Hoping:  That what is meant to be will be.
Marvelling:  At the beautiful colours, lights, patterns and theatrics of Vivid on my recent trip to Sydney.
Cringing:  Over how many calories I consumed when in Sydney – but I ate THE most delicious food and had a very good time!
Needing:  To be a lot more organised and productive!
Questioning:  Why just about every food it seems is bad for you.  Hmmph!
Smelling: Nothing as usual – refer all previous Taking Stock posts!
Wearing:  Active wear – how funny is that!  I either walk or go to gym every day (well that is the aim!).
Following:  My heart and instincts.
Noticing:  I’ve really, really, really been neglecting the garden!  Lucky we’ve had rain!
Knowing:  That I need to get away for a nature break one day real soon!
Thinking:  That I have lots of stuff I need to get done.
Admiring:  The professionalism and friendliness of the every staff member I encountered on the Sun Princess cruise ship.
Sorting:  Washing is a regular part of my life!
Getting:  Fit and slim is much harder as we get older.
Bookmarking:  Sooo many pages to go back and read later but I never do!  I need a strategy!
Coveting:  A holiday – one of those that is relaxing to the point where your mind is empty and at peace and has an ability to read book after book!
Disliking:  That my daughter has moved out. Love that she has independence now but I miss seeing her as frequently as I used to.
Opening:  My new Curtis Stone recipe book and ogling the gorgeous recipes and photographs!
Giggling:  Not enough!
Feeling:  A mish mash of feelings at any given time – that’s me!
Snacking:  On too many nuts.  Good nuts … but too many of them.
Helping:  My daughter move out recently *sob*
Hearing:  The gentle snores of my beautiful Ava
Mixing: Bloggy business with a family visit (after) on my recent trip to Sydney (see piccy of my ‘Sydney’ sister and I in collage above)
Worrying:  About my Dad (and my Mum too).
Slicing:  Up lots of veggies for nice nourishing winter soups, casseroles and stews!
Celebrating:  My daughter’s 21st … well back in May we did!
Forgetting:  Lots of stuff all the time hence my need for lists and reminder alerts on my phone!
Winning:  At embracing winter (if you could call what we get in Brisbane winter).  I love winter!
Pretending: To know what I’m doing lots of times – fake it till you make it!
Sneaking:  Too many savoury biscuits.  Someone hide them … please!
Embracing:  Anyone who’ll let me.  I love a hug!

Ciao for now,

Min-Signature

Oh I do love a good Taking Stock post. I’m loving my Sodastream and slow cooker too in equal measure! Now I’m at home, I spend most of my day in active wear because then I have no excuse not to go to the gym!

It’s certainly wintery today in Brisbane! You are so good with your drinking water – I find it really hard in Winter. Maybe a soda stream is the way to go.

I’m loving the cooler weather! I find it hard drinking water in winter too. I could drink way more than I am! The SodaStream is great! πŸ™‚

There’s plenty going on in your world, Min. I really need to get onto making some nice winter soups for the fam. If you’re looking for someone to help with a logo, I highly recommend Zonkt Designs. I hope your Dad continues to improve x #teamIBOT

A blog update is always nice. I haven’t had one for ages!
Glad you had a lovely time in Sydney, even with all the calories. Hopefully you’ll get that nice sunny walk soon. πŸ™‚
