It’s time for Taking Stock again. This year I’m Taking Stock quarterly. The first one was in March, the next was in June and following this one will be one more for 2016 in December.
The Taking Stock concept and its prompts is the brainchild of Pip from Meet Me At Mikes. If you’d like to play along, you can grab a blank list here.
Making: Plans with a friend for a fun girls getaway for a couple of nights!
Cooking: Every.Bloody.Day! Why do people need to eat?
Drinking: Water, water, coffee, water, water, water, coffee, wine, water, water, water, coffee, water, water, coffee, wine
Reading: Lots of online research lately – shhhh you’ll find out more soon enough!
Wanting: To escape suburbia and take off with my camera to beautiful new places!
Looking: Forward to my first ever cruise (8 nights) in early December!
Playing: Lots of music on YouTube lately … since I started Music Monday’s on the WOTM Facebook page. Music Mondays = two songs I like – one posted at 7am and another at 4pm each and every Monday. Come check it out and join in the fun (mostly it’s just me, myself and I but hey we’re having a blast)! Here’s the first ever Music Monday song I posted – Suzi Quatro and Chris Norman singing ‘Stumblin In’. I love this song!
Deciding: On songs each Monday is SO.MUCH.FUN!!
Wishing: That terrorism was not a word I knew of. My friend and I caught the train to and from the theatre to see the musical ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ the other day. Waiting on the platform of the train station to go home we got talking to a lady who was sweeping. She instructed some people to drop their rubbish against a wall as there are no bins. “Why are there no bins” I asked. “Have you heard of terrorism love” she replied. Yes I have … unfortunately. So sad we can’t even have bins at train stations don’t you think?
Enjoying: Having my sister’s toy poodle ‘Rudi’ stay with us for a week. Ava is loving it too!
Waiting: For my niece to have her first baby in early-mid October – so excited!
Liking: Very much the fact that I live near water where I can go to walk or sit, and to regain some peace and calm and balance!
Wondering: If my niece’s baby will be a boy or a girl. She and her husband know and have kept it a secret. Don’t know how they’ve managed that!!
Loving: Singing and music. For a while there – I lost the music. I forgot how good it made me feel. A friend reminded me of my love of music (about a year ago) and for that I will always be grateful. I even revealed recently on the WOTM Facebook page that I once sang this song solo at a party (circa 2000/2001) … as well as other songs with the group I was part of.
Pondering: Life. The Universe. Everything!
Considering: All the possibilities!
Buying: A complete new desk/workstation set up for me from Ikea. Only the drawers have been put together so far. Lots more to be done before I can get the new set up in place.
Watching: Ok I’ll admit it. I watched The Bachelor and I was so team Nikki. Good luck to Richie and Alex though – I really do hope they will be happy! I’m now watching The Bachelorette – fingers crossed for Georgia Love.
Hoping: The specialist I’m seeing will resolve all my issues and set me on the path to good health and feeling awesome!
Marvelling: At the paralympians. They did us proud in Rio. I so admire their dedication, commitment and talents!
Cringing: At the amount of times I’ve had needles stuck in me over the last month.
Needing: To escape suburbia with my camera and go bush or to the mountains or to the sea or to far away places where there is beautiful nature and new places to explore and experience. Have I said this before? I have? Oh (not sorry)!
Questioning: My crazy desire and need to flee!
Smelling: Same ‘ol story – I have no sense of smell. Ho hum!
Wearing: Truth be told – active wear most of the time!
Following: My heart a little too much sometimes, so need to listen to my head a little more to balance things out!
Noticing: That 2016 is speeding by too fast and before we know it Christmas will be here again!
Knowing: That it is going to be hot, hot, hot, humid, humid, humid again real soon – agghh!!
Thinking: That sadly there is some truth to this quote – ‘people don’t change, they reveal who they really are’.
Admiring: My niece’s artistic talents! She is only 13 (14 in December) and already producing incredible art.
Sorting: Through loads and loads of old ‘family office’ stuff in order to convert the space where I blog from to my own actual workstation that totally only has my stuff here – yay!
Getting: Excited about some upcoming new ideas for the blog!
Bookmarking: So many diverse things!
Coveting: Travel. I would really love to take off with my camera travelling, taking photographs, and enjoying new experiences. Oh that’s right – I might have said this before? Oops (still not sorry)!
Disliking: The fact I have had so many medical appointments lately!
Opening: My Ikea boxes – such fun!
Giggling: With my good friend on our recent outing to the theatre. We always laugh and enjoy each other’s company which is bloody awesome and something I very much treasure and appreciate!
Feeling: Annoyed that winter was not cold this year (in Brisbane anyway).
Snacking: Is a problem I have!
Helping: My son out by sewing back up the fallen hems of his work pants x 2 (what does he do to them?). The things us Mum’s do!
Hearing: Songs in my head … all.the.time!
Mixing: Up my breakfast smoothie (Berries, Apple, Spinach, Water, Ice & Protein Powder) every single day!
Worrying: About Dad, about Mum, about my sister, about my kids, about me, about everyone I care about! That’s me!
Slicing: My finger on a knife just recently. Ouch! Just a little cut – not too bad.
Celebrating: The fact the results of my first lot of medical tests revealed nothing dire!
Forgetting: To post the sympathy card I bought and wrote on for my friend whose father recently passed away. I feel so bad!
Pretending: To be a grown up. I mean hello – who ever truly feels like a proper grown up – like what we thought a grown up was when we weren’t a grown up!!
Embracing: Whatever comes my way. What other choice do I have? I’ll make the most of the good and I’ll find the lessons in the bad, or not so good.
Ciao for now,

Wow, what a great idea for a post. It has got me thinking about my life and how important it is to take time out for yourself. One goal I hope to do a lot more of in the future. Glad your medical tests revealed nothing nasty. Good luck for the new addition to the family, babies are so exciting.
It’s loads of fun to do. Last year I did it just about every month of the year (think I missed one month?). That was a bit much so this year I’m doing it quarterly – so four for the year. Taking time out for yourself if so important. I’m a huge advocate of self care! Thank you – I’m so glad the medical tests revealed nothing nasty too! Some of the things they told me I ‘could’ have were quite scary so it’s a huge relief. There’s more tests to come but I’m feeling better about it all now. Yes a new baby in the family will be very exciting! 🙂
Yay for nothing dire!!
Rudi just stole my heart. Sooooo cute. You’ve also got me intrigued with that research you mentioned. Good luck – sounds fun!
Rudi stole my heart ages ago LOL but Ava is my baby first and foremost! We’re both enjoying having cousin Rudi stay for a while though. The research will remain a mystery for a while yet! 🙂
I did one of these for the first time and it was very thought provoking. You sound like you are on the cusp of something new but need to get a few things out of the way first. I wish you well and some times of solitude behind the camera lens too!
It sure is thought provoking. I found the first one I did VERY hard! Yes I am on the cusp of a few new things but need to get my health issues sorted first. Thanks Denyse! 🙂 xo
I find these really hard to do as my life isn’t that varied and I seem to do little!!!
I hope the medical tests continue to come back clear, but I guess if you’re trying to identify some problem then it’s annoying to not know exactly what it might be.
And you’ve reminded me I must go and put Rage on to listen to while I’m in the study!
They are hard to do at first. The first one I did took me AGES! You would find actually that you do a lot more than you think and besides, a lot of it is your thoughts and feelings rather than what you do. It’s a great process doing one of these! Enjoy Rage! 🙂
Do you believe I got sidetracked and didn’t tune in!
Haha – that is just the kind of thing I do! 😉
Ooh, I love the idea of this. Some very interesting answers there Min!
It’s an interesting process going through all those prompts and writing what is foremost in your mind! 😉
I am jealous of your Ikea boxes!! We have a store opening just down the road from us in a couple of months. So excited!!
No more Ikea boxes to open anymore – I’m all done! I’ll have to go back again LOL How exciting having an Ikea open up near you! 🙂
I love how thought provoking this is. You’ve left me thinking I need to take stock.
It’s actually quite a therapeutic process and helps you to become a lot more self aware! 🙂 xo
I love me a good taking stock post! I’m very intrigued about your research and very in love with Rudi (it was love at first sight!) I know what you mean about the bins, in London there are no bins at any train stations and haven’t been for years, for that very reason. I think we’re all pretending at being grown ups, don’t you? I refuse to grow up… It’s a trap!
It was love at first sight for me with Rudi too and first sight was at the airport when I went with my sister to collect him as a wee little 8wk old puppy. I didn’t realise about the no bins thing! I’m with you Sammie – I do not ever want to be a proper grown up – so boring! 😉 xo
Oh the cruise will be so much fun! And aren’t Ava and Rudi so cute!! 🙂
I hope the cruise is fun! And yes … have to agree that Ava and Rudi are very cute! haha 😉
This is a really great post to read and I’m guessing it’s great for taking stock of what’s been happening over the past three months! The cruise sounds exciting, and I’m definitely going to check out Music Mondays!
It’s quite an eye opener doing one of these Taking Stock posts that’s for sure! The cruise will be a first so yes – a bit exciting! Really hope you do check out Music Mondays. I’ve been posting lots of songs from the 70’s lately (love the music from then) but will venture into the 80’s soon! 🙂
That’s not a dog! It’s a live teddy bear. How gorgeous.
I know!! And it’s so awesome having a live teddy bear to cuddle whenever I want.I’m gonna miss him when he goes! 🙂
Oh I love Suzi!!!
Me too!! She’s so cool 🙂
I am so glad you found my link-up today Min! Denyse xx
I’m glad too Denyse! It’s been a bit hard to keep up with everything in the blogging world of late! xo
This is awesome, Min! Thanks for reminding me to do my own taking stock post.
How exciting you’re going on your first cruise in a couple of months! Woohoo! I love “Stumblin’ In” 🙂
Look forward to reading your taking stock post Grace! It’ll be interesting to see if I enjoy the cruise (hope so) and yay for loving ‘Stumblin’ In’! 🙂 xo
