It’s been a while since my last Tassie post! I got a bit tired of editing all the photo’s but here I am back at it again. We are nearly at the end of the trip now.
On the afternoon of Day 10, after our walk around Dove Lake at Cradle Mountain followed by a delicious lunch, we packed up and set off for Strahan.
We stayed at Strahan Village in a Hilltop Executive Harbour View room. The accommodation was great but most wonderful was the outlook and view, looking out across Macquarie Harbour and all the fishing boats and tourist vessels. There was also some outstanding bird life in the trees! I was thrilled to discover laundry facilities just across the hall from our room (washer and dryer) so it was fabulous to get a few things washed and dried!
I loved this little town. It was so quaint and pretty. One thing that I felt detracts from it though was the parking meters they have on the street. I’m not sure if they are operational or not but regardless, it seemed totally unbecoming for a small fishing and tourist town and felt like a greedy ploy for more of the tourist dollar which left a bad taste in the mouth of this visitor. However, the gorgeous geese wandering around in the parklands surrounding Macquarie River made up for it – they totally made my visit, along with the prettiness of the town and the absolutely fabulous Gordon River Cruise that we did – which will be covered in another post (next Tassie post to come).
So here are some photo’s I took around town. I didn’t have much time in Strahan to take too many photo’s and to be honest by this stage I was starting to tire of carting my camera and camera gear around everywhere, and for that reason I don’t think any of these are all that good. We arrived late afternoon on Day 10 and Day 11 was mostly spent on the Gordon River Cruise, but I managed to get a few shots with my DSLR and some more with my phone.
If you want to know more about a photo – click on it and the description will be visible.
Here’s some phone snaps that I posted to Instagram. I couldn’t for the life of me get them to centre which has driven the perfectionist side of me to complete distraction but I have taken a deep breath and put into practice my Attitude of Acceptance and anyway I like quirky and off centre is quirky is it not?! π

Oh what a fab spot. I do so want to visit Tassie again!
I’d go back to Tassie in a heartbeat. Some fav places I’d like to revisit for longer and some places I still haven’t yet got to! π
I’ve never been to Tassie! It looks absolutely gorgeous, I really need to visit!
Tassie sure is gorgeous – such diversity as you travel around all of it. Hope you get there one day! π
Looks like a gorgeous little town. We didn’t get to this side of Tassie. Maybe next time. Looks lovely like the rest of Tassie!
It is a gorgeous little town Alicia! Hope you get there next time. If you do go there, make sure you’ve booked yourself on a Gordon River Cruise (it’s incredible!)!
Strahan was one of favourite places when I visited Tassie many years ago.
My recent trip was too brief to get there.
Stunning photos.
Thanks Trish. Hope you get there again another time. It’s a beautiful spot! π
