You may have noticed it’s been a bit quiet here at Write of the Middle (WOTM). I’ve been busy on a secret mission. There is much yet for me to do! As I’m going to be busy for a while, you may see a few guest posts from my blogging friends to help keep this blog active and interesting and I will pop in too when I can. I think it will be fabulous and I can’t wait to see the guest posts prepared for you to read and view! What an awesome community this Australian blogosphere is!! If you are a blogger and would like to guest post here please send me an email at min@writeofthemiddle.com and we can chat!
Because I like you, I won’t keep you completely in the dark about my secret mission. I’ve written a little bit of a poem. It might not be what you’re expecting, so brace yourself for the read.

The Secret Mission
You can do all the right things
Apply all the good stuff
Look within intently
Care for self so gently
Yet…he can still find you
You can keep your mind busy
Do the things you love
Eat all the good stuff
Get some regular huff n puff
Yet…he can still find you
You can take all your vitamins
Inspire yourself with reading
Pay it forward by helping others
Ignore the inner pleading
Yet – he can still find you
You can still the mind with meditation
Take a regular vacation
Drink your daily quota in water
Make your work day’s a little shorter
Yet – he can still find you
Take your eye off the ball just a little
Ignore all the telltale signs
Don’t practice what you preach
You are well within his reach
Yes – he can still find you
He sniffed you out and honed on in
Your vulnerability was calling him
Before you know it, there he is
Wrapping himself around your legs
And down you fall … yes he has found you
Into the darkness where there is no joy
and nothing good is within your sight
all thoughts and tasks are hard to do
with a head full of fog and a body of glue
We’ve been here before and know what to do
Put a smile on the dial
and look to the light
Fake it till you make it
Don’t give up the fight
Get out in nature and move that body
Meet up with friends, don’t be alone
Lighten the load and get away from the screen
Tell the voice within to stop being so darn mean
Be gone black dog
You’re not wanted here
I know your weaknesses
So be scared and prepared …
to whimper and scuttle when I kick you to the curb!

You are quite the poet! You’ve captured the black dog perfectly. x
Thank you Alicia! xo
Cheering you on your mission Min!
I feel it – thank you Steph! xo
Feeling all the feels with you. Take care and make that quote your mantra.
The only black dog I want near me is my walking buddy (can’t run at the moment).
Feeling all the feels with you too dear Trish! Many thanks! xo
Beautifully expressed Min… love the poem! May your mission be mindful and fully expressed… I look forward to reading more♥
Thanks so much Leanda! The poem won’t make me an overnight literary success but it was bashed out straight from my heart. This was a very hard post to press publish on! xo
That bloody black dog. Sending you a ton of love and positivity hun and we will be here for you anytime you need us xx
That ton of love arrived Sonia and ever so gratefully – thank you! That black dog is a sneaky bastard! xoxo
Great poem. You obviously haven’t lost your fighting spirit in spite of it all, so hang on to that and take care xo
Thanks so much Ness! Don’t be fooled by my fighting spirit words though. I am a master at putting on a mask when in reality beneath it I am in a desolate pit of black worthlessness. I try my best though! 🙂 xo
Min, what a beautiful and heartfelt poem. You really are a talented poet lovely lady! Best wishes for your secret mission xx
Thanks so much Susie. Not sure the poem is anything fabulous but it was written straight from the heart. Onwards and upwards with this secret mission of mine! 😉 xo
Oh wow. A secret mission! Intrigued.
You’re a good poet.
I on the other hand am not so good at deciphering poems. So I will have to wait to hear more about the mission.
There’s no deciphering needed with the poem. If you read it – it’s pretty clear. 🙂
So glad you pressed publish Min…Happy to help out with a guest post and will get back to you soon. I too have been having a wee battle but I am of the belief I am ‘getting to the other side” …Much love Denyse x
Thanks so much Denyse! I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been having a bit of a battle too. There are so many people having battles out there! I’m so grateful for your offer to guest post. Much love to you too! 🙂 xo
I’m pleased you pressed publish too, Min, plus you’re a poet, did you know it?! We’re all here for you, like your own virtual cheer squad and BDB (Black Dog Bodyguards) just let me know if you need any help with ye olde posts. Hugs for you xx
I’m still not sure if I should have hit publish Sammie. Oh blow it – I’m I poet and didn’t know it! So are you! Yes it’s true! It’s nice having a virtual cheer squad and I love that acronym BDB LOL! Love it! Muchas gracias! 🙂 xoxo
I love that image & I’m intrigued by your poem & your secret mission.
Stopping by from Steph’s Joy
Many thanks Jen! 🙂
Thinking of you. As soon as I have some spare time, I will put my hand up for a guest post.
Thanks Raychael! Don’t worry yourself with a guest post. I know how busy you are! xo
Really good poem. Have you entered it anywhere? I can find you a comp if you like….(and hugs to you if you’re having a rough time!!) I’m moving then OS so can’t help, but otherwise would!)
Thanks Lydia! No I haven’t entered it anywhere. It’s a miracle I even wrote it, got it into a blog post and published it actually! lol You’re moving OS? Where? I need to catch up on your news! x
Your poem speaks volumes to me. Thank you for pushing publish and sharing it. Sending you strength Min. (And I love Sammie’s BDB! She is such a good egg.) Xxxxx
That is such a compliment! Thank you Sandra! Yes Sammie’s BDB is gold! She sure is a good egg, as are you and many others who have commented here! 🙂 xo
I will miss your regular posts but will be waiting here for your return once you’ve sent that black dog packing! Here’s to a successful secret mission!
That’s such a lovely thing to say – thank you Ingrid! Onward and upward with my secret mission. Just quietly, I wish this mission allowed me to sleep but at least it means I’m up late to read and respond to these lovely comments! 🙂 xo
Wow – did you write that yourself? I’m impressed! You’ve really captured the essence of the black dog.
Thanks Janet! Yes i did write it myself – on quite a dark day (and I don’t mean dark as in cloudy or night time!). It’s not perfect but it just flowed from my heart through my fingers to the keyboard without pause. 🙂 x
Hi Min,
I have had many secret missions over the years and I hope you mission is not too painful. May that big black dog shrink down from Great Dane to a manageable chihuahua size ASAP.
Much love
Bron
Thanks Bron – the dog is still here but shrinking I think. It’ll keep shrinking if I force myself to do what I know must be done, hence ‘The Secret Mission’. Sorry to hear you’ve had many secret missions over the years. You must be a master at slaying the dog! Thanks for your kind wishes! 🙂 x
Min, what a beautiful poem. Take care of yourself gorgeous. Xx
Thanks Bec! xo
Wonderful piece of poetry- teally captures the essence- im sorry if uoure having a rough time though xx
Thank you Amy! xo
Good luck with your mission!
Thanks so much Allison! 🙂
Congratulations, that’s a really insightful poem… I’m just sorry you’ve had to have that insight! It sounds like you have the perfect attitude for battling it though, I wish you all the best.
Thanks so much Zoe! I’ve had practice for battling it. I know what needs to be done. It’s just a matter of whether I have the energy and/or determination to do it! 🙂
Such a great poem Min. Thinking of you and sending positive thoughts and vibes your way. Take care! x
Thanks Zita! I’m feeling much better. 🙂 xo
Min
