Twenty-Eight

November 19, 2020

Twenty-eight years ago today I was twenty-eight and gave birth to fraternal twin boys – Twin 1 and then 1 minute later Twin 2.

Today my twin boys are twenty-eight, the age I was when I had them.

Twenty-eight years ago I became a mother to not one but two babies. What an introduction to motherhood!

Twenty-eight years ago I become a mother to premature twins born at 36 weeks. They were 5 lb 1 ounce (2.31332 kg) and 5 lb 3 1/2 ounces (2.40404 kg).

Twenty-eight years ago my twin babies were in the Special Care Unit at the Mater Mothers Private Hospital here in Brisbane and I witnessed the wonderful work the staff do there.

Twenty-eight years ago I was learning the art of twin feeding and synchronising feeds and living on very little sleep.

Twenty-eight years ago I learnt a lot about reflux and colic!

Twenty-eight years ago I was floating on a cloud of joy and in awe of the miracle of having been blessed with two very precious baby boys.

Twenty-eight years ago I was very, very tired and very, very happy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to TWIN 1 and TWIN 2 who are TWENTY-EIGHT today!

Here’s twenty-eight photos of my boys Twin 1 and Twin 2 as babies and during their early childhood years (click on the little ones if you want to see them larger).

And for anyone who is into facts – here’s 28 facts about the number 28 and the meaning of the number 28 according to numerology!

Thanks Lydia – it sure has flown by. They’re the age I was. I’m the age Mum was. How did that all happen?

Congratulations to you, Min. It must be hard to nurse and take care of two premature infants. I hope your handsome twin sons are treating you well and show you their love every day. #lovin’lifelinky

Thanks Natalie! I loved every minute of the early days with premmie twins. It was a long road for me to get them so I was so elated and happy. The tiredness from lack of sleep though was very hard! xo

A lovely walk down memory lane Min – and I bet you had a lot of fun and great memories as you put those pics together. Fun fact – 34 and a bit years ago I gave birth to my son and he weighed 4.9kg (10lb 14oz) so he was bigger than your two boys put together! Now that was a “fun” delivery! Happy birthday to your boys – now it’s time to marry them off and get some grandbabies happening!

It was so hard to choose only 28 photos Leanne! I have so many albums. Of course, for their privacy I choose not to share photos of them older than primary school aged. I look forward to when they marry and have some kids but I think it’s gonna be a while off yet!! xo

Happy birthday to the twins! I can’t imagine what it would have been like to have two at once and trying to get sleeps coordinated. I couldn’t get my first child to sleep even by herself. What lovely photos!

Thanks Christine! I was so deliriously happy and naive back then. It took a while to get those boys so I was elated (floating on air) to have TWO babies. I had no idea what was ahead of me! LOL To be naive was actually a blessing! The first 12 months was a blur of exhaustion but we got through it and survived.
