Two game changer cosmetics for midlife women

I was going to post all about my three night getaway to the Granite Belt today but I’ve had a rather busy and social week since I returned and haven’t yet had a chance to sort through the heaps of photos I took, so it will have to wait till another time.  Instead, I’m sharing some fab new cosmetic finds with you.

I received some money for my birthday in May and decided to use some of it to purchase some cosmetics that have had me intrigued for some time. You know those things you see ads for and you hover over the BUY NOW button and sometimes even add to cart but then abort mission mostly because you think you’re being a bit too frivolous.  Well, I decided to finally bite the bullet, follow through, and give a few things that have interested me a go!

There are two items that I have loved enough to want to share in a post.  I will buy them again for sure, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

If I’m at home (and I’m home a lot), I don’t wear make-up so these are mostly only used for when I’m going out.  Sometimes though, when at home I might use the concealer, without any follow up foundation or any other make-up, as a ‘pick-me-up’ if I’m having a blotchy and dark circles under my eyes kinda day.  Amazing how such a simple thing can perk you up and make a big difference to your day!

Before I start, I need to let you know that this is NOT a sponsored post.  I bought these products and I’m writing about them because I genuinely love them!

So here they are …

Cosmetics

1.  Runway Room – Pink Flesh: Pink toned creamy concealer

Runway Room is the Australian made and owned cosmetic label by Alex Fevola.

I’ve been blown away by this product and it takes a lot to blow me away!  This is beautifully light and creamy and so effective!  It doesn’t collect in your fine lines and look cakey, pasty or blah.  It’s fantastic at covering the dark circles under your eyes and to neutralise the skin tone on your face.  I apply it under my eyes, on my eyelids and then wherever I feel is a bit blotchy or red on my face.  Then I apply my foundation.  You can always apply touch ups after foundation too, if you feel you need it.  I have never used a concealer as good as this one ever before in my life.  I love it!

By the way – this arrived on my doorstep super quick after ordering it – even during these Covid times where there can be some major postage delivery time hold ups!

Costs AU$39.95

2.  Trinny London – Miracle Blur – Lip and Line Filler

Remember Trinny from the fashion advising duo ‘Trinny and Susannah‘ who did the show ‘What Not to Wear’?  Well she now has her own cosmetic line – ‘Trinny London’.  There is a Trinny London Australian site (buy in Aussie $ with free shipping when spending more than $150).

Now there’s no denying that this product is pure indulgence but ladies I think we’re worth it!  This truly IS a miracle blur.  It helps with self esteem and what’s wrong with that?  You can apply it wherever you feel you need it.  Lip lines around the mouth?  Apply it there.  Lines around the eyes?  Apply it there.  Acne scars?  Apply it there.  It is like skin putty and softens the area where you apply it.  OMG – what a product!  It’s not exactly cheap so my plan is to save it for those special occasions when I want to look my best and could do with a little confidence and self-esteem boost.

This arrived pretty quickly after ordering (despite these current times), beautifully packaged and you get a bonus cute little zipped makeup pouch in the yellow and silver Trinny London colours (seen in images above).  I use this in my handbag to hold a few little make up items for if I need some touch ups whilst out and about. What a lovely surprise!

Costs AU$48.00

Here’s the official video about the product by Trinny.

And here’s a less official video about the product by Trinny (below).

So there you go.  These two little pots of magic are big winners in my books.  They’ve levelled up my makeup routine and I feel so much better for it.

Interestingly, most of my adult life I have not really been into skin care and make up.  I’ve always loved my foundation to cover flaws and even out my skin tone of course but never really been madly interested in make-up.  I’ve used skin care on and off over the years but was never loyally devoted to regular skin care. These days though, as the signs of ageing set in, I’m putting more effort into these things and by doing so it makes me feel better.

I like to use skin care products to help ‘preserve’ and ‘enhance’ what I can, and specifically to help me achieve a dewy, hydrated and healthy looking complexion.  I use makeup that makes me feel better about myself because I realise how important feeling good about myself is to my self esteem.  I believe that anything that gives us a little boost in self esteem is a good thing for us ladies in midlife, don’t you agree?

Ciao for now,

Okay, so at first I was disappointed not to see something about Stanthorpe but as both of these products interest me (especially the miracle blur), you’ve been forgiven and I can wait a week to read about your getaway.

Haha – sorry to disappoint! You’re far more organised and efficient at getting posts up after being away than I. These products interested me too so I finally took the plunge. SO.GLAD.I.DID! I’ll get to work on the Granite Belt post – promise!

The miracle blur has me intrigued. I think Nikki Parkinson talks about a Trinny product, but I can’t remember what it is.

I’ve got a lot of fine lines above my top lip and I hate them! I’ve even considered fillers but don’t want the accompanying pout trout!

The Miracle Blur had me intrigued too. So much so that eventually I had to buy and try for myself. It’s pretty special! Not a huge amount in the tub though so I’ll save it for special occasions. Nikki uses a lot of Trinny’s make up – not sure if she uses the Miracle Blur. I bought a couple of Trinny’s eyeshadows too (from her new Mother Earth collection) and love them but not enough to shout them from the rooftops as must haves. If your lip lines cause you angst you should buy this product and give it a go. I think you will really like it! BTW – I’m not a fan of pout trout either! Blah!

Pinned these products. Tried to find the concealer on Amazon but it wasn’t available. Will keep checking back. I don’t wear my makeup but probably need to up my game.

Hope you can find it Leslie. I’m not big on makeup as in I don’t like a heavy make-up look. I like a natural look but I tell you what – just a little makeup can add so much life to the face and lift the spirits and put a spring in your step and that’s a good thing!

Links to it are in this post. I think it’s a little gem to have in the makeup collection for those special occasions!

Interesting to find out about these products Min. I rarely wear makeup, because I’m super sensitive to fragrance and chemicals.I want to check them out to see ingredients and see whether makeup is available in the U.S. Visiting at #MLSTL. Be well and let your beauty shine.

I’m very careful about what products I put on my skin Nancy because my skin is very sensitive too. I didn’t think to check if these are available in the US but hopefully you can find out. I’m pretty sure the ingredients would be listed on the websites. Stay safe!

Hi Min – sometimes it’s lovely just to treat ourselves isn’t it? When you use your birthday money it takes away the guilt even further. Glad you found some products to love and make you feel beautiful – we all need more of that. #MLSTL

Hi Leanne – yes a treat is lovely and with birthday money it’s guilt free (very true)!

I definitely need to try the concealer. Aging hasn’t been kind to my skin and the uneven pigmentation is the worst part about it. Thanks for the recommendations as it saves buying something that isn’t worth the hype

    • Reply Min July 30, 2020 at 3:44 pm

My pleasure! I wouldn’t write about or recommend any product that i haven’t used and loved myself.

I must say the concealer sounds great Min, I’ll have a look, so thanks for the links. Appreciate your sharing these products and your honest thoughts. #mlstl

The concealer is great – does the trick but is also light and creamy and invisible (if you know what I mean). I’m impressed!

Lip and line filler. Now you’re speaking my language!
