On Monday 16 May we said farewell to our old girl ‘Chelsea’. She was 16 years, 2 months and 13 days of age. She lived a long and happy life. In the end it was kidney failure that decided to take her.
Her pedigree name was ‘Cavtown Chelsea Bun’. We called her ‘Bunny’ quite a lot. She was a much loved member of our family for such a long time. My 21 year old daughter was only 4 1/2 years of age when Chelsea joined our family. It feels right to put together a few words and some photo’s as a tribute to her and her life with us.
On Monday 23 May, one week after her passing, she was delivered back home (her ashes in an urn). I would like to send a huge big shout out to Pets in Peace who do a fabulous job. They offer a wonderful service and the staff are friendly, respectful, compassionate and very caring.
I’d also like to send a shout out to our vets at Manly Road Veterinary Hospital. We’ve been taking our pets to them for 25+ years and they’ve taken good care of them over all this time. We received the most touching card from them after Chelsea had passed (it made me cry – but shhhh!). Along with the words written within the card from all the staff, they included a poem which I’ll post below:
So this is where we part, My Friend, and you’ll run on, around the bend, gone from sight, but not from mind, new pleasures there you’ll surely find.
I will go on, I’ll find the strength, life measures quality, not its length. One long embrace before you leave, share one last look, before I grieve.
There are others, that much is true, but they be they, and they aren’t you. And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought, will remember well all you’ve taught.
Your place I’ll hold, you will be missed, the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed. And as you journey to your final rest, take with you this … I loved you best.
Here are some photo’s of our Chelsea – just a handful from the countless number of photo’s we have of her over her 16+ years with us.
Rest in peace Bunny. Till we see you again.
Ciao for now,

I have been thinking of you Min, what beautiful words and photos you shared, thank you! What a long life she lived, 16 is incredible. I loved her birthday photoshoot, a little greyer and older but still so beautiful. Big hugs xx

She looked such a lovely dog. xx
Thanks Jess. It’s been hard but we’re all doing fine. She was a rascal as a youngster but a real sweetie as an old girl! 🙂 xo
