Wordless Wednesday: Farewell Summer!

The last official day of summer was Saturday 28 February.  I’m not sad at all.  I’m ready to move on.  It’s not you summer – it’s me!  Nothing personal but I just don’t like you much!

You do have your good points summer – um let’s see:  there’s swimming and floating in my pool – yes I do like that.  Oh and there is the annual renewed love of air-conditioning!   um … err … that’s it!

I’m afraid your bad points outweigh the good for me – um lets see:  the heat and humidity that makes me sweat and feel unattractive, the heat and humidity that makes going for long walks impossible unless I rise before the sun, the heat and humidity that makes sleeping at night uncomfortable, the heat and humidity that makes me need to wear clothing that is cool but yet not flattering, the heat and humidity that sucks the life and energy out of me!

Look summer, we’re kinda just not compatible!  I’m an autumn, spring and winter girl you see.  They are much more civilized and kind to me!  I do live in Brisbane though where these seasons are mild, sunny and beautiful!  😉

By the way Summer, I think the fact that you’re giving us a heatwave later this week after you’re supposed to be gone is mean and nasty yet it does not surprise me.  You’ve done it before haven’t you.  It seems that Thursday will be the worst day and guess what – I’ve got it covered – my sister is coming over and we’re totally spending the day in the pool.  Your last ditched effort to beat me will fail, fail, fail.  Be gone with you summer and come hither autumn!!

To soften the blow of my honesty, summer – here are some photo’s of some of my favourite times we had together this past season – a little reminiscing if you like!

Here’s a collage of some phone snaps of around my pool at home that were posted to Instagram over the summer months.

Here’s some photo’s from our lovely 5 day pre-Christmas escape to Burleigh Heads in December 2014.

It’s so gorgeous at Burleigh Heads isn’t it?  You know what though … it doesn’t need to be summer to enjoy those outlooks! 😉

Farewell summer – no need to rush back.  Take your time, ok!

Ciao for now,

p.s.  apologies for a not so wordless – Wordless Wednesday post!!

I love summer – don’t say it’s over! Your pool looks lovely!

I have a love/hate relationship with summer (mostly the latter!). Sadly – in Brisbane the summers are far too humid for me to cope with. Summer in other parts of Australia might be more bearable! Our other seasons are pleasantly mild and far more comfy for me 🙂

Once again I want to come swim in your pool!

Haha – I’ll think of you when I’m in the pool tomorrow! 😉

I remember thinking how great those pics were the first time around!! I am so glad that we don’t get the humidity in Toowoomba as bad as you guys do there. Currently in Cambodia we are having temps 30-35 degrees which is fine, I’m used to that, but it’s the humidity and no air conditioning that is draining. I’m managing, but it’s draining. I am definitely more of an Autumn/Spring kind of girl..

Thanks Zita! I didn’t realise you were from Toowoomba. I love Toowoomba – such a pretty place and lovely cool weather! 🙂 The temps in Cambodia sound much like what we’re experiencing here over the last couple of days though our temps have gone even higher! Yep I’m more an Autumn/Spring girl too and even winter coz our winter’s are so mild!

I find it hard to let go of any season, which is a good thing, right?! I love autumn, though (it’s my favourite), so I’m happy enough to say bye to summer. It’s been a good one for us, though. x

I am always pleased to farewell summer I’m afraid Bron. In Brisbane it has just become too harsh for me – too humid and unbearable. It sucks the energy from me and makes life uncomfortable. Autumn/Spring and Winter in Brisbane are far more comfortable and enjoyable for me. Good to hear you love autumn. Me too – such a lovely season! 🙂 xo

After living almost all my life in the UK, it feels like every day down under is like summer. This year summer has been magical with some wonderful trips and lots of good times. I love all your pics and your pool! It must be like having a holiday at home, every day! Here’s to an awesome autumn!

Oh Australia would be such a different experience in so many ways than living in the UK (not that I’ve ever been there)! I’m glad you’ve had a great summer! Mine has been great too, despite my dislike for humidity and heat. I’m very fortunate to have a pool and aircon! They make my summers so much more bearable! 🙂 x
